The BMI repertoire site hasn't updated with this album yet. We'll know when it does.
The Circle is a solo Elfman score, as was The Girl on the Train. The Alice Through The Looking Glass album is all Elfman too; the additional music in that one was all minor cues.
No one knows cos the film is still on the shelf, with the nearest release date being August, I think. The CD release at this time is quite inexplicable.
I was surprised to read in the booklet that this score was recorded nearly 2 years ago (May/June 2015). Yes, it is quite extensive of his concert stuff and certainly well done. It's nice to see a slew of additional composer's missing from the booklet too.
Ah, that makes sense - we must be listening to his music for the first cut of the film. Knowing how long the Weinsteins have apparently spent tinkering with this, I'd be surprised if the music in the film ends up sounding a lot like what we're hearing on the album (and I agree that this is probably where any additional composing is going to come in). I actually thought it was a miracle that Elfman's name stayed on the film in the first place, given how frequently the composer goes on the chopping block when the Weinsteins decide they don't like the movie they paid for.
This score is REALLY growing on me too (see P-Wolf above). While I find some of his documentary/minimal style somewhat cold, there's enough emotion threaded through that style here to engage me more. Some lovely tragi-dark passages and the Happy Family cue (is that a hint of Sleepy Hollow I detect?) is just ace. Best Elfman I've heard in a while.
Yeah... one more reason to avoid the US version entirely!
Fun fact when I got my copy signed about 5-6 weeks ago, nor Danny Elfman or Richard Kraft and Laura Engel had any idea the CD had already been released in EU...
