Maybe joint custody? I'm good for two weekends a month. Beyond that, Daddy's gotta hit those tables.

For me, Patrick Doyle is composer numero uno but since about 1995, he has never been the same. Those years from 1989 to 1995 were the best of film music. Since then, not so much. Unfortunately, this new one is not up there either. Obviously, this is by his standards of course.

Still sad to see the greatest talent of our times relegated to having to listen to executives.......

Strange comments? I contracted the orchestra and we had a fabulous time recording the score with the City of Prague Phil....Patrick was a joy to work with but more importantly he composed a score in total keeping with the film and which also delighted the director and producers. Films are a team effort and this was a true collaboration and team effort!

That's a typo on the Amazon site, the release date is 2/24, as confirmed on the Varese site. Amazon shipped my copy last week and I received it on Friday. smile

To my knowledge, Patrick Doyle has yet to win an Academy Award or a Golden Globe (like most composers that year, he deserved one for SOMETHING he did in 1993). That Varese press machine!

He has yet to win an Oscar, Golden Globe or BAFTA award.

He did, however, place second at the Snohomish County, WA Chili Cook-Off in 1998, where his entry was described by local journalist Vern Pullenmuth as "trapped between the vagaries of chili and stew; luscious and pleasing to the palate but frustratingly one-note, as if the accents of poblano and bird's eye ready themselves to take flight but catch no wind aloft. Still, the contestant himself remains a gregarious and charming host. WOULD EAT AGAIN NOM NOM NOM."

You two giggle me tonight lol!

This is one of my favorite scores of the year so far (a year that doesn't have a lot of good ones...). It's a beautiful theme and this fantastic composer varies it throughout the score. It's a very lyrical affair and the City of Prague Philharmonic bring it to life with their usual artistry. Thanks Varèse for releasing this gem. Highly recommended.

Initially I thought this was a nice effort from Doyle and left it at that, now I cannot get enough of it. Beautiful score with a gorgeous theme. Can't wait for Murder on the Orient Express.
