Don't want any details.... just two questions....

1. What was your VERY FIRST soundtrack purchase.

2. How old were you?

The first soundtrack I remember asking my parents to buy for me was Prince's Purple Rain on cassette in 1984. I was 9 years old and I still love that album.

STAR WARS. I was 9 years.

And some tracks scared me so much I dreaded to hear them: Imperial Attack / The Land of the Sand People.

God, I'm terrible at these things. I think maybe the first soundtrack I got was a cassette of TWIN PEAKS, copied from a friend's CD, ca. 1990. But that doesn't count as 'purchase'. So if I were to guess, it would be:

1. THE COMMITMENTS (on CD)
2. Ca. 1991, so I was about 14 years old

Then again, COMMITMENTS was a song album, not score. I can't really remember what my first score album purchase was. Could be JURASSIC PARK on CD, ca. 1994, but I already had that on cassette (again, copied from a friend's CD) for a long time, so I'm not sure.

As I said, I'm terrible at remembering such things.

I'd recently bought The Best of Bond, a 15 tr. compilation and Goldfinger was my first OST ... no turning back!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the first soundtrack I bought for myself was probably Return of the Jedi when I was 13, as the few I had before that (I think including Star Wars and Empire, and a few collections of film music) would have been bought for me.

The first album I remember picking out and being bought for me was Geoff Love's Great War Movie Themes, on tape (which I think I still have somewhere), probably when I was about 7.

Edit: to put in ages
