Rombi’s other upcoming projects include the French drama Team Spirit (L’esprit d’équipe) coming up. The film is directed by Christophe Barratier (The Chorus) and stars Arthur Dupont, François-Xavier Demaison and Sabrina Ouazani.
The movie centers on French trader Jérôme Kerviel who was convicted in the 2008 Société Générale trading loss for breach of trust, forgery and unauthorized use of the bank’s computers, Jacques Perrin and Nicolas Mauvernay are producing the project. Rombi has previously scored Barratier’s 2013 feature War of the Buttons.
Team Spirit is set to be released this summer in France.
This movie is now called 'L'Outsider' and has been released by Music Box Records. It's pretty low-key for Rombi. It's mostly synthesizer driven but has some nice orchestral parts as well. Has a bit of a Danny Elfman-vibe to it for these kind of projects.
I am quite fond of the score - just like anything Rombi has ever done... the score is quite interesting and certainly a continuation of his incorporation of electronics, which is sometimes slightly reminiscent of his brilliant Dans la Maison. Some slowly developed pieces follow in the footsteps of the main title from Joyeux Noel...
The longer pieces are certainly the best on the album, which is still one of the best scores of 2016 so far... and I can't wait his score for the new Ozon film, which should be released this fall.
