Any truth to the rumor, mentioned on Youtube, that Broughton is composing a suite for the new ride featuring Goldsmith's old music?

Yes. He is composing the music for Soarin' Around the World and it will incorporate Jerry Goldsmith's theme.

My source is Bruce Broughton.

The attraction opens June 17th in Florida. I hope that Broughton's score will be made available somehow, but the recent track record of Disney releasing park music is abysmal.

Broughton's score will definitely be released. The Disney theme parks update their official soundtracks (sold in the parks) every couple years, and undoubtedly this will be no exception.

Hopefully that means they will release Joel McNeely's excellent score to the Hall of Presidents film. I've been looking for that one forever and to my knowledge it's never been released on anything.

I would love to have this as well, but I'm not holding my breath. My chronology may be off a bit here, but I think the McNeely score dates from 2009 and was not included on the last park album which came out in 2013. It is a real shame. I had hoped Intrada would crack this open, but for whatever reason Doug and his team have not been able to release any of these great scores.

I have now experienced the new Soarin' with the Broughton/Goldsmith score. I have mixed feelings about the new film, but I did think that Broughton did a fine job working with Goldsmith's theme. My heart really sank as I was standing in the queue watching the pre-show video, because it is accompanied by the most playful variations on the Goldsmith Soarin' theme in pure Broughton style. The reason my heart sank is because I fear that I will never get to hear it again outside of the attraction.

Good to hear it's in good hands. I was at DCA the week before the original version closed so I made it a point to ride it. I didn't tell my family that this way a "must ride" for our trip entirely because of the score!

Thanks for sharing the video... I think Disney has gone insane with their pricing in the past few years (while simultaneously cutting back on everything in the parks to pay for Shanghai) so this is the only way I'll be experiencing Soarin for a long time.

I love how you can really hear Bruce Broughton's orchestral textures come out around the 3:05 mark as they're flying with the hot air ballooons in the desert. I'd love to hear the preshow material you mentioned earlier! Here's hoping that Intrada is quietly working on a Broughton/Disney Parks CD! smile

Thanks for sharing! So someone was able to get their hands on the clean source files but added some show applause and edited out the big middle chunk of the piece.... /facepalm

The audience reaction footage where you see them all wide eyed and enthralled reminds me of the Enterprise crew in THE MOTION PICTURE going through V-Ger.

Would love to see and hear the Goldsmith/Broughton SOARIN' music with shots of Sulu and Ilia from Trek. That might be pretty funny.

Yes, unless Disney provided it in that form. Frustrating.

Oh man I REALLY hope Intrada is working on a great two- or three-disc set of great Disney ride music. I want *everything* Goldsmith recorded for Soarin' Over California (the full entry and exit music in addition to the ride score itself) as well as this great new Broughton version. Then there's all of Broughton's other fantastic work for the parks, plus stuff by Giacchino, McNeely, and others...

Yavar
