Funny, after all the bitching about price increases and what not, Intrada now has both this and Monkey King part 1 on sale for 30% off and nary a word...
My house mate is Vietnamese and he grew up on reading and hearing about The Monkey King. It is unabashed siliness but it's something akin to our version of the Lord of the Rings I guess.
Young's Monkey King assemblies are two of the best albums I've heard in a long while - they play perfectly as albums. And knowing both scores, hearing the music in the films was especially enjoyable - the albums are also terrific representations of the music in the film though not built c&c.
Very much worth picking up both during the sale, I'd say! (And I paid full price for both and couldn't be happier.)
