I was listening to Handel's Messiah while reading this thread and now I can never listen to Handel again.

Mortdecai is the single-worst movie of last year.

Sounds like one of us was smart enough not to subject themselves to Taken 3.

Is this really a thing: loving a score, seeing the film for which it was written, then turning on the score? No offense, but it strikes me as silly.

I knew Goldsmith's LIONHEART music for years before I finally saw the movie, which I found on VHS in a Blockbuster. Let's just say, it wasn't one of director Frank Schaffner's better efforts. Great score, though.

That film had an interesting history in Leonard Maltin's TV Movies: First, it was rated BOMB!, then ***(!), then finally **1/2.

I watched that one on VHS, too, back in the day. It was incoherent (I'm sure there was much post production tampering), and flabby. The score, though I like the music, didn't work well either. The synths clashed badly with the visual style.

The script was bad, the director tired, Goldsmith was doing the best he could for an old friend, but the result was barely released and deservidly so.
