particularly, this section of the Main Title do you prefer?

boosted Violins:

or

boosted Trumpets:

I like them both but I kinda favor the boosted Trumpets. But dang, those violins are awesome too! I'd like them both one happening first and then the other in a reprise. Violins first are more dramatic and intense. The trumpets give it a folksy more lyrical, lighter feeling.

Which version tickles your fancy?

Hmmm...the violins! And nothing will beat the wickedness of the synth bass from the original scoring sessions (an ARP 2600 fed through an echoplex). That main title made a big impression on me when I was young. It's probably the reason why DAMIEN is my favorite score of the three.

This score is in need of a makeover release. Neither the album nor film version of Broken Ice seems to have the sharp punch of the opening choral grunt, as you hear it in the film itself.

I love this cue. I always have memories of Bugenhagen driving in that jeep. But it was 2.35:1 squished to 4x3 in the TV version so it was extremely distorted.

The original Silva release on cd does have the more present frog-chorus opening. I go back and forth between this one and the Varese for this very reason.

DAMIEN for pure fun to listen to, is probably my favorite of all of the three Omen Scores.

Cues like BROKEN ICE and many more just Rock! I think Goldsmith once said that he was working on a score that was just boring to him and I think it was this one. If this is his boredom mode, it certainly works for me.
