MacGYVER---Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer announced a theatrical movie is underway based on the Richard Dean Anderson tv series. Lee David Zlotoff, who created the original tv series, is a co-producer. In addition to the movie, Lionsgate and CBS are developing a tv reboot of the series.
THE WALKING DEAD---Alicia Witt (DUNE) confirmed she's joined the cast in an undisclosed role, "Proud & overjoyed to get to announce to you today: I'm joining one of the greatest shows ever made."
Z---new Zorro movie underway described as, "a post-apocalyptic take on the myth of Zorro…set in the near future but keeps the idea of a masked and caped stranger taking on tyrants.” Jonas Cuaron (GRAVITY) is the writer/director.
GODLESS---Netflix six-hour Western miniseries from writer/director Scott Frank (MINORITY REPORT, GET SHORTY). Set in 1888, a wounded outlaw seeks refuge in a New Mexico mining town run by women as his old gang is hot on his trail.
Also, Netflix renewed ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK for three more seasons.
Netflix is also develop a comedy series based on fashion mogul Sophia Amoruso's rags-to-riches autobiography #GIRLBOSS.
BRAINDEAD---Tony Shalhoub (MONK) will play a Republican Senator in this CBS comedy starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead as a new Congressional staffer who discovers the government is at a standstill because aliens have eaten the brains of Congress and its staffers.
COLONY---the USA Network renewed the alien invasion series for Season 2.
WAYWARD PINES---Jason Patric will play surgeon Dr. Theo Yedlin in Season 2 in the Fox/M. Night Shyamalan series.
GHOST IN THE SHELL---Michael Pitt (BOARDWALK EMPIRE) will play villain The Laughing Man in the Scarlett Johansson movie based on the manga.
DEAD OF SUMMER---summer camp horror anthology tv series underway in which Camp Clearwater is victimized by an deadly ancient mythology.
LEGION---Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza and Jean Smart have joined the cast of the FX X-Men spinoff pilot.
ZOLA TELLS ALL: THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE GREATEST STRIPPER SAGA EVER TWEETED---movie underway based on the ROLLING STONE article about strippers, a boyfriend and a pimp whose trip to Florida leads to murder. James Franco is the director/co-producer.
THE PASSION---Fox musical underway based on the last hours of Jesus Christ on Earth. Tyler Perry, Seal, Jencarlos Canela and Trisha Yearwood star.
