On Monday evening (Jan. 25), Grammy-nominated rapper B.o.B. called out famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson in a new song proclaiming that — satellite photos, circumnavigation of the globe and all other evidence be damned — the Earth is flat.

"Neil Tyson need to loosen up his vest. They're probably writing the man one hell of a check," B.o.B. raps on the track, which is called "Flatline." [?Photos: Amazing Images of Earth from Space]

The title apparently refers to the shape of the horizon, as seen by B.o.B. Throughout Sunday (Jan. 24) and Monday, the rapper, whose real name is Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., tweeted a number of photos that show a flat horizon, claiming such images are evidence of a flat Earth.

"Once you go flat, you never go back," B.o.B. tweeted Monday, via his @bobatl account.

"I'm going up against the greatest liars in history ... you've been tremendously deceived," he said in another tweet Monday. Then: "No I'm not crazy, Yes I'm feeling fine, no I'm not doing anything stronger than weed, am I doing this to promote my music .. No..."

I invite him to walk off the edge.
The Earth will be immediately healthier.

There was an episode of The View a couple of years ago where Sherri Shepherd could not say if the Earth was round or flat and insisted she was too busy of a woman to know or care about the difference.
What is it with people not bothering to know the difference, or actively not understanding something obviously and fundamentally true?

Without humans knowing that the Earth is round (and all of the accumulated science that came after), that asshole wouldn't even be able to tweet to Tyson declaring how much of an idiot he is.

We are doomed as a species. I say truly doomed.

Meanwhile, this guy accomplished his goal of becoming better known and will now sell enough of his crap albums to buy that Bentley he leased.

I for one will be buying his albums as a direct result of this report.

I assume your being sarcastic. smile This is my thought. Who could possibly believe the world is flat? That's to dumb even for the dumb. So it must be a publicity stunt to get his name out there and sell more music. But I don't see how this particular stunt helps sell more rap music. Perhaps if he got into a Twitter war with Trump instead of Tyson he have better results...

Maybe she was cleverly rephrasing something Sherlock says in one of the original stories (it didnt matter to him if the earth revolved around the sun or vice versa).

The Flat Earth Society has been around forever so I dont think one more nut will make a difference, unless he's considered a role model and his music influential.

All this "Earth is flat" talk has me craving a chunk of the moon's green cheese.

I love it! A celebrity idol actually challenged a celebrity science idol!
It works on more than one level!
It demonstrates the vapidity of some of these idols (I've never heard of B.o.B. before now) and while he received a mild rebuke from Tyson, his comments drew some fierce social media flak, thereby illustrating the scorn and derision typically faced by anyone who dares express skepticism about the settled-science gospel of global cooling-global warming-climate change.

I wonder how many among us believe that the beloved pancake on which we live is only six thousand years old.

I can't wait for the internet shockwaves after George Lucas declares that the Death Star, like planet Earth, is flat.

By "shockwaves", I mean shockwaves of blind fanboy acceptance. wink

The Death Star was spherical first! He made it flat in the special editions.

that projection looks suspiciously two-dimensional. Maybe this Bob guy is right.

Well, I just bought his entire discography. Neil deSoil Holyfield and his nephew have nothing on this guy.

I think what our learned young musical friend is trying to say is that from a gravitational perspective, the earth is flat from all points relative to the center. B.o.B is the next I.N.Sty.N!
