After 45 years of scoring over 400 films Morricone got to work with the one Italian icon he had never done a film with. Hopefully there is a more extensive version of this commercial directed by Giuseppe Tornatore.

Good find Henry. Its true though he may not have worked with Sophia, he did buy his house from her and husband Carlo Ponti, of course.

Thanks for this Henry. And maybe this will lead to a bigger project together... Seems like all the pieces fit, so why not?

I never knew that. When did this happen? And now I am also curious why Ponti didn't us Morricone more often (3) and never in a Loren film.

Off the top of my head i cant recall for certain if it was his house in the EUR district that he had in the 80s or his current one - im pretty certain its his current one. Hes been there a lot of years now.

Was reading a book I have about the great Armando Trovajoli and it is very obvious that Trovajoli and Sophia Loren had a very special relationship dating back to the 50's. Trovajoli helped her start the singing portion of her career and they of course did many wonderful films together. This special friendship continued until the composer passed away in 2013 and so he was obviously her composer of choice. This would probably explain, at least to a certain point, why Ms. Loren and EM didn't really work together. Based on the great pic Milan posted, it does seem that there is a good chance for future collaborations. Let's look forward to that!

Cheers!

Morricone has been living in the heart of Rome, in a building very close to the Piazza Venezia, since the mid-eighties.

I think he left the EUR area and moved in that house near the monument dedicated to Vittorio Emanuelle III and the Foro Italico a bit earlier than that, around 1980 or 1981. And Bill, he indeed bought that house from Carlo Ponti and Sofia Loren.

I knew he was in the EUR district in the 70s but i thought it carried into the early 80s.
Thanks for rectifying my memory.

It's the Foro Romano. wink The Foro Italico is a vast sport complex which includes the Olympic Stadium. It is located in the northwest of Rome.

Yes about hoping for an extended version. If it's only a 15 second ad, what's even the point of having Morricone score it?
