This man is a beast who never stops working Bear McCreary has composed the music for the upcoming sci-fi mystery thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr. The movie is said to be related to Matt Reeves’ 2008 feature Cloverfield and follows a young woman who wakes up in a stranger’s basement after a car accident and is told her life was saved from a chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek, Super 8) is producing the project through his Bad Robots company with Lindsey Weber. Josh Campbell (4 Minute Mile) & Matt Stuecken have written the screenplay with Damien Chazelle (Whiplash). 10 Cloverfield Lane will be released on March 11, 2016 by Paramount Pictures. I've never fully embraced the devotion to Bear McCreary that some here have, but I've always found his music for THE WALKING DEAD very good — particularly the last two seasons where he's focused more on pulses and grooves. That said, the last track of the 10 CLOVERFIELD album is really, really good. The grooves and blaster beam are a novel idea — particularly in 2016. Points too for the five-note main theme, which when when I hear it, can't help singing "Making Christmas" in my mind. I'm sure that will be my problem and my problem only

Both the movie and the score are getting rave reviews. The film is currently 91% favorable with the critics. Among the critics' quotes about the score: "The movie’s finest feature may be Bear McCreary’s playfully malicious score, a beehive of worried-sounding strings that channels the spirit of Hitchcock fave Bernard Herrmann.” - Time "A fantastic wordless opening set to Bear McCreary’s roiling, glorious score.” - USA Today "Bear McCreary’s frenzied score rises to a pitch of shrieking intensity shortly before her car skids off the road and flips over.” - Variety "The most striking may be the clinical crispness of the digital photography up against the old-school strings and analog vibe of Bear McCreary's musical score.” - Chicago Tribune “Intriguing how much information they’re able to convey only through Winstead’s physical acting and the unnerving, Bernard Herrmann-style score by Bear McCreary (a real A-level effort from the prolific composer).” - Joblo.com "The stress-inducing score by composer Bear McCreary... fantastic.” - The ReelWord “inspired score by Bear McCreary” - Hollywood Outbreak

The score is pretty solid as a whole (maybe too long as a release) but damn, that final track is something else. Hopefully this kicks off Bear's film career. I saw the film last night and it's outstanding and the score is incredible within the film itself. Ford A. Thaxton
