I can't remember where I was, but it was a few weeks ago... I was at a Family Dollar and looked in the Varese section, and saw a CD from a film I've never heard of called Monster House. I didn't look to see who it was composed by.
Have any of you come across this title?

I'm gonna have to check out MY Family Dollar now. But I don't usually find the cool deals that many people on this board do.

That was one of the many that were there a few years ago, so its nothing new. And I am sorry, but I didn't like it. I listened to it many times and never found it to be very memorable or thematic.

Last night on the way home from work, I stopped a FD for some household supplies and had to look at their CD section. I always hope to find some old Varese titles, but never do anymore, until last night. They had Beyond Borders (James Horner), Doom (Clint Mansell), Gridiron Gang (Trevor Rabin) and Pathfinder (Jonathan Elias). I already have the Horner, so I bought them all. I could not pass them up since they were marked $2!

Doom - noisy but good synth score. From the Zimmer neighborhood, but Mansell has some better ideas to keep it from a total loss.
Gridiron - surprisingly very nice, thematic orchestral score.
Pathfinder - big disappointment from a composer I usually enjoy, shapeless noisy noise. Played it a few times & never remember one bar.

I also went on an FD rampage a few years ago - most of the finds were junk in the end, but the price was worth finding that out on my own, and you never know till you try.

I'm surprised FD stores still have Varese discs in stock. They're supplied by an outside vendor, usually shipments show up every quarter, or when the inventory system indicates there's a certain number left on hand. We haven't gotten any Varese discs in a few years, although we did get the single disc edition of Zimmer's SpiderMan recently for $4 bucks.
