Hello Everyone,

Thinking I'd like to catch up with JNH's score to PAWN SACRIFICE, about which I've heard good reports, even though I haven't seen the movie, I decided to buy it online.

No luck.

Can't find it anywhere. Amazon has downloads, but CD apparently no longer available.

Was the CD as much of a flop as the movie, itself, seems to have been.

Can anyone advise on where I can find a CD of this reputedly good, albeit only 23 min., score?

Thanks.

I have it on order from Deep Discount, but I'm not confident I'll get it.

I suspect the CD was cancelled before it ever came out, like what happened to Marco Beltrami's Don't be Afraid of the Dark a few years back.

Wasn't this one of Lakeshore's 'Limited to 1000 copies' CDs that people keep saying aren't limited at all?

All Lakeshore's recent CD releases say limited to 1000 copies on the packaging, and I see no reason to doubt that claim. Do the same people think Varèse are lying when they only put out 1000 copies of Seventh Son?

That said, I don't think Pawn Sacrifice sold out either. I had my eye on this one before it was supposed to come out and I'm pretty sure they just scrapped the CD release.

This score has my single fave cue of 2105.

I have not seen an ost but in the film I would name it "Spassky Applauds/ The tragedy of Bobby Fischer (end titles)"

check it out!

Lakeshore's blog only ever mentions a digital release:

I totally got caught on Portman's Dolphin Tale II. I waited for a couple months after release and then ordered through Amazon as they had the best price. Lakeshore still had it on their site and Screen Archives had ut so I wasn't worried. Then Amazon said it was delayed then like 10 days later cancelled my order and all other sites were sold out. Now I'm stuck. Do I just live with a digital release or pay the high prices that are out there. I have every other Portman CD release.

Lakeshore cancelled JNH's Pawn Sacrifice and Debney's Walk of Shame so digital is the only option, but the other has me in a conundrum.

If you're located in the USA I would just watch Amazon.com Marketplace like a hawk.

Right now the cheapest is $35 - but just a couple weeks ago there were a few for $14.99 from third party re-sellers. I would just check daily - I'm sure one day you'll get a hit.

Watched the film last night after finishing The Queen's Gambit. Disappointing that the CD was cancelled, this is a lovely JNH score.

I always think this film did get a score CD release, cos I'm always confusing it with CONCUSSION.
They have similar covers/posters and are from around the same time (I think).
I know I have a CDR of it somewhere, but haven't listened to it for a while.
