Still holding out hope for Bad Boys 2 that Lalaland announced a few years back...

Back in 2018, Roger Feigelson seemed to suggest Intrada would be releasing Armageddon eventually. https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?forumID=1&pageID=7&threadID=83899&archive=0

Has anyone from Intrada stated anything to the contrary since? Hopefully they will be able to release it soon.

Then don’t participate. I’m not giving up the fight for music I care about.

"Participate"? What are you even talking about?? Did I miss a memo on a convention or something? And if, by "fight", you mean "tell the labels what Rabin expansions I want", then...OK?

Hey! Intrada, LLL, Varese, and Note for Note! Expanded Armageddon! Please?

Anyways...

@BryonDavis, hopefully you can let us know if Rabin expansions are pretty much a dead-on-arrival pipe dream or not. Thanks! smile

Part of it is studio interest (or disinterest).

Considering he scored some of the more popular films in the late 90s and early 00s this actually surprises me a bit.

Today's studios want bigger advances. To them they care about their franchises and their new movies. Always feeding the machine. There are some other issues with some of his scores I cannot go into here. Yes, some studios are happy working with one company, others want the world in terms of advances and some are at a point where they have their own labels for new projects and their classic catalog and may be holding these for themselves down the line.

There are always other variables at play. The best thing I can say is Trevor is releasing some of these on his own label. Maybe he will make some of these happen?

That is incredibly surprising.! Although thinking about it, we're also not really seeing any expansions from the Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures era. Crimson Tide, The Rock, Con Air, Armageddon, Enemy of the State, Gone In 60 Seconds, Pearl Harbor, King Arthur ... ... ... wait, am I just naming Jerry Bruckheimer movies at this point? IS IT A JERRY BRUCKHEIMER PROBLEM?!

No. Disney doesn't seem interested in working with ANYBODY unless it's Intrada or their own in house labels.

Considering the LLL expansions of Days of Thunder, and Beverly Hills Cop I / II for which he even gave new interviews for the liner notes, probably not?

Yep.

Well...he is just not as good I guess...He is ( like many others out there ) loud when he thinks he needs to be loud...quiet when a more intimatescene comes up.
I can´t put it in words and I know it´s all taste here on this forum( which makes it fun sometimesmile
but his scores ( just like Brian Tylers and all those guys who are mostly writing for those average repetitiv actionmovies...) are just too "flat".
Its basically sounds all like library stock music to me....

Thanks for shedding a little more light on the situation, Bryon! It's much appreciated smile

To me at least, the way I read it is that we should make our interest known to the labels (which we seem to do a pretty good job of it around here) but then it's really just "OK, they know the interest is there, but these specific titles are not very likely in the foreseeable future. Best to just move on for now and be pleasantly surprised if one or more of these pop up one day."

So is it just a Disney problem? Or are titles like Deep Blue Sea and The 6th Day also not possible?

Crimson Tide, The Rock, Con Air, Armageddon, Enemy of the State, Gone In 60 Seconds, Pearl Harbor, King Arthur.

Man, I'd jump on all of these if we got remastered expanded editions.

I'd also add some of Rabin's less popular scores to the list, like The One, American Outlaws and G-Force. These scores are missing a ton of unreleased music
