Okay so...

http://www.pithikosentertainment.com/02_07_2016.html

It was all looking quite promising until I saw this bit:

A hybrid recording that seamlessly mixes "live" instrumental performances with VST instruments

A score which famously featured no electronics now, apparently, does. The rest sounds fine from the samples. How cool would this have been if James Fitzpatrick had been asked to supervise full orchestral sessions.

It would have been great to have been asked to contribute to this new recording with a real orchestra....as the CoPPO had great fun a few years ago recording a Planet of Apes suite for Silva Screen...including having mixing bowls in the percussion! Challenging music yes, difficult music to perform...yes, but not overly difficult anot not as difficult as some scores we have tackled.....

Maybe there is still an opportunity here to create a brand new recording mixing a fresh CoPPO orchestral recording with these new O'Callaghan elements? An intriguing possibility.

No electronics? Ever hear of the ECHOPLEX?

If anyone wants to put up the money to do this with a real orchestra under O'Callaghan's supervision, put up or shut up, but I'll certainly buy the resulting CD -- and not complain about the shipping cost!

The echoplex doesn't create an electronic sound though, it's a tape delay effect that sustains the sound fed into it, which in the case of PLANET OF THE APES was an acoustic element. It's like saying electronics were used because the microphones used to record the score required electricity to operate.
