curved nose reminds me of ships in Space 1999.

Video of Amazon.com entrepreneur Jeff Bezos success on the second flight of his New Shepard spaceship.

Hmmm, looks more like a flying sex toy. Docking would be a sight.

I loved all the design work for SPACE: 1999 — the ships, the uniforms, Moonbase Alpha — and the "haunted castle in space" aspect of the scripts. But the show was not especially credible. For example, if they had fusion rockets like the Eagles that could make "direct ascent" to the Moon in a matter of hours, they'd be traveling all over the Solar system, and perhaps to the nearest stars. (Granted, they did have episodes featuring such ships, like "Voyager's Return", "Death's Other Dominion" and "Dragon's Domain" but they didn't mesh into a single history.) So while the Eagles had the pretense of looking real, their capabilities did not dovetail with the writing.

However, I would love to see a credible "near future" space exploration series—perhaps along the lines of AMAZING STORIES where the cast and situations are not necessarily the same from week-to-week. Since most series these days are as little as a dozen episodes per season, and with the production tools now at hand, such a show could be made economically. The show might be like some of the golden age sci-fi: educational passages mixed in with the drama.

Private enterprise is the only way space exploration will work. So I love hearing about efforts like Blue Origin and SpaceX.

Yeah, that's not a rocket ride I'm taking anytime soon.

As a friend noted once, if it was reported that Mars rocks were an aphrodisiac, humanity in general, and certain nations who hunt animals into extinction for alleged attributes, would have colonized that planet by now. Sex it up and we'd be on our way to Alpha Centauri.

Yeah, that's not a rocket ride I'm taking anytime soon.

I'm sure it will attract those die hard thrill seekers who dont mind dying easy. As long as we can watch it on youtube....all in the interests of science, of course.

It's called natural selection and I'm fine with that.

Getting blown up test-flying a new rocket is not natural selection.
In fact, civilization has turned natural selection into baggage accumulation since the stupid and shiftless are no longer eliminated:
