The in AIRPLANE II contained the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA maintheme, lead me to following suggestion: I am a big fan of BG(all series!) and of course the music from Stu Phillips and Bear McCreary. After INTRADA began to release the Stu Phillips recordings complete, I was so incredible happy to get all the music, that I wish to have since the 70's. But at the end I was deeply disappointed because of the fact, that INTRADA not want release all the music of GALACTICA 1980 complete! I know that the earthbound G80 series was a bitter disappointment for the most fans of the prior outer space placed BG-series. But I accept the circumstances of the cancelation of BG and the intentions of Glen A. Larson behind G80. And with the very wide spectrum of STAR TREK TOS episodes and other series in mind, I am very broad-minded; and so I can take enough pleasure from G80, to look the couple of G80 episodes too. My favorite episodes are THE NIGHT THE CYLONS LANDET Part1&2 and THE RETURN OF STARBUCK. And I love of course Stu Phillips G80 scores almost the same manner as the prior BG scores. The disco-sound-elements in some episode scores are not deterrently for me. I am not fixt on classic orchestrated big scores like John Williams STAR WARS or Jerry Goldsmith's STAR TREK(I love the Blaster Beam too!) I have also a large collection of disco-sound based soundtracks/scores from SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER to the CHiPs-scores(many thanks to FSM!) from Alan Silvestri; and at last the 30 years awaited KILLER FISH from Guido&Maurizio De Angeles(many thanks to Quartet Records!). And not ot forget the collection of disco-versions from film & TV main-themes(MECO etc.). So it is for me a very big disappointment, that the G80 scores are not released complete! If Intrada not change their decision; I hope that LaLaLand can make it possible to release a GALACTICA-1980 complete-CD-set. Due the fact that the Intrada-BG-CDs are sold out; it may be make sense for LLL to rerelease the prior BG-scores too. I see two options for LLL: Two seperate CD-sets for both series; that make sense for all owner of the old Intrada-CDs, and those not want buy the BG-scores again and only want the missing G80-scores. Or a complete release of all scores from both series in a CD-BIG-BOX like STAR TREK TOS or LOST IN SPACE. And yes, if the BG-BIG-BOX-complete release is the only way to get the G80-scores complete; then I will buy the prior scores in a BIG-BOX-release again ! So I set my final hope now on LaLaLand !

I'm at work now and can't remember what the Intrada liner notes said about GALACTICA 1980's tapes, whether there were any more scores available to release, or if the unreleased tapes are missing.

We included five tracks from 1980 at the end of Intrada's Volume 4, basically focusing on tracks that were rearrangements of music from the original series. There is more but one wonders how well a standalone release would sell. Mike M.

It appears the worthwhile material from GALACTICA 1980 is already on Intrada vol. 3 and 4.

As a completest, and wanting to hear the music, I would buy that set/disc in a heartbeat It may have been a crappy show, but music speaks for itself.

As a completest, and wanting to hear the music, I would buy that set/disc in a heartbeat It may have been a crappy show, but music speaks for itself. Absolutely correct ! And please, nobody may forget; how many really good scores are composed for really abstruse movies. Remember for example the film STAR CRASH and the really good score by John Barry ! For me is the only reason that somebody made a movie like STAR CRASH, that composers like John Barry, can made a really good score for it. The filmmaker may lose there money, but we soundtrack connoisseurs are the winner ! I think, the company's like Intrada, LaLaLand and others, are sure professional enough to seperate film-quality and soundtrack-quality. For them and us is the soundtrack the center of the universe !
