I think we ought to canonize Mike M. for all the great work he is doing. smile

(Patiently waits for someone to not get this heartfelt attempt to provide humorous gratitude...)

The thing is, Mike, just because a few people are unhappy doesn't mean most people are. There's no way to tell by this board whether what is said here represents much beyond the people who say it.

I'm very happy with both BBTF 2 and 3 - even listened through to the alternates. which isn't my usual approach. Not a bit concerned with variations from the original releases, as I'll be keeping those as well.

So my saying this, is it more or less representative than Shaun's concerns? There is no way to know.

I think the point is people should trust that you and everyone in this crazy business are going to do your best to get as much released as possible. And if someone doesn't like the result, they are welcome to complain, but as always, it's this or nothing. So I'll take this.

I would prefer to trash the old disc and/or delete the old files when the complete versions come out, but as we have learned, there will always be that one 8 second variation that is missing or a cue stuck on the front of an album cut or a digital glitch that is goes unfixed that makes us keep the original releases.

I for one am perfectly happy with BTTF 2 and 3's expanded releases with how they are setup. I think those that bitch about the way how a release is, well do us all a favor don't buy it. Don't ruin it for the rest of us who are happy to have it.

I think this all started because a guy asked if he could recreate the original album. I suppose I could have just said no, but that would have been too easy.

Waiting on Part III to get here. But I'm going to put together a best of playlist from all three films. It's probably going to come out something like this -

BTTF I -

1 - Back to the Future Main Title
2 - Logo
3 - 85 Twins Pine Mall
4 - Skateboard Chase
5 - Marty's Letter
6 - George to the Rescue Part II
7 - Tension; the Kiss
8 - It's Been Real Educational/Clocktower
9 - Helicopter
10 - Lone Pine Mall
11 - 4x4
12 - Doc Returns

BTTF II -

13 - Main Title
14 - The Future
15 - Hoverboard Chase
16 - Alternate 1985
17 - Pair O'Docs
18 - Nobody - Tunnel Chase
19 - Burn the Book
20 - Western Union
21 - I'm Back/End Logo
22 - The West

BTTF III -

23 - Main Title
24 - Warmed Up
25 - Indians
26 - The Kiss
27 - The Showdown/Kick Off
28 - The Train Part I
29 - The Train Part II
30 - The Train Part III
31 - It's Destroyed/Back to the Girlfriend/It Erased
32 - Doc Returns

What would be your best of playlist?

Peter, I love how your best of Part II almost mirrors the original OST - they must have had the right idea!

OST
1. Main Title (02:21)
2. The Future (05:23)
3. Hoverboard Chase (02:49)
4. A Flying DeLorean? (04:31)
5. My Father! (02:04)
6. "Alternate 1985" (03:05)
7. If They Ever Did (03:58)
8. Pair O' Docs (01:27)
9. The Book (04:50)
10. Tunnel Chase (05:21)
11. Burn The Book (02:26)
12. Western Union (01:52)
13. End Title (04:38)

For me, I'm actually just enjoying the full albums, so I probably won't do this kind of selection - I'd just pull out the Varese trilogy edition for a single disc listen. But it's a fun thing to do for you cats what wants to do it!

Haha yea, I really should have added the tracks "Biff's World/27th Floor", "My Father", and "Gray's Sports Almanac/If They Ever Did" to make them a little more different, but I was trying to do it in a way where you could fit it all on one CD.

I like your pairing up of tracks as well. Why didn't you include "I'm Back"?

Just know that opinions on this subject do not go unnoticed.

I see where Shaun is coming from, but for the record: if it means we're getting all the music on CD, I don't mind the segues at all.

(Since we're providing feedback in this thread - though this has nothing to do with BTTF! - the one thing I'd like for the labels to change is adding notes in the booklets where you've put the 'hidden' alternate inserts! I presume you often find yourself in a similar situation where you either integrate a short alternate insert into the original version of a cue or leave it out of the CD entirely. Obviously I prefer the former, but it'd be great if you could just mention it in the booklet smile)

I just copied the OST track list from Soundtrack Collector and bolded the ones that are analogues to the new expanded tracks you picked. I was going to line this up against your original list, but that seemed like overkill even for me! big grin

It looks like the first two films expanded soundtracks are available for download on Amazon now... Part III has been available for a while, but I don't know when the first two became available.

Part I at http://amzn.com/B017ARUHQ2.
Part II at http://amzn.com/B017LIIOC4

Enjoy!
