Hey Guys,
I just wanted to update the thread with a link to purchase the piece.

The only live link i have is the following but i will update the thread with iTunes link once it goes up (will be my last bump of the thread I promise lol)

I enjoyed it very much.
I found it charming and evocative.
I got the same kind of buzz from this as I do from Holst and Debussy (to name just two with which it shares a kinship).
Thank you for putting it up.
smile

I enjoyed it too - and didn't detect any Goldsmith DNA in it. Good call with Holst. I particularly liked the whimper that it went out on, resisting the temptation to do the bang thing.

My word, that's gorgeous music! Is it possible to buy this piece, either on CD or online? Did you realize it using sampled instruments or is the piece performed by an orchestra? Sure sounds like an orchestra to me! Which orchestra? So many excited questions!

Sherief, I want to take a moment to give you additional feedback.

I took an opportunity yesterday to listen to the rest of the material you put up on YouTube, while I was puttering around the house.
All of the pieces show a substantial understanding of dynamics and attention to detail--not to mention that they were practically overloaded with beautiful melodies. The sound quality is superb.
It takes real versatility to turn samples into music and you have done so.

I liked them all, but there are some pieces that I liked better than others. This is not a relection on your composing skills--it is more a reflection of what simply perks up my ears. I particularly enjoy "God Creating Space Overture", "Love At The Stars", the aformentioned "Journey To Mars" and Part 4 of "The Crucifixion". The latter section of Part 3 of "The Crucifixion", particularly after the 13:00 mark, is wonderfully dramatic.
The only thing I could say that would even come close to a criticism is the absence of recurring motifs or themes in the pieces. They would lend an element of thematic context and identifiability to each piece.

I have no idea whether you do this as a passionate hobby or a possible career, but it seems that the next step is to release your work beyond the confines of what iTunes can provide to you. Let people pay you for actual physical format (meaning CD's). I think that is the preferred medium of your target audience (but it could also just be my own bias showing).

According to your YouTube uploads, you have been doing this since 2009--so why you haven't already been snapped up into the big leagues is beyond me. I am certain that you will be there soon.

In my humble opinion, "in my Humble opinion" as a phrase has been ruined thanks to a certain somebody, and should be avoided. Plus, "Humble" is not a proper noun, so no capitalization is needed.

Really? That's your takeaway from this thread? A need to correct the grammar or use of phrase that a composer with beautiful music has used? Not to mention, I suspect English is not his first language. Orchestral composition, however, is right up there as a language at which he is very adept. Just listen to the music and enjoy it on its own merits, Justin.

Hey guys! wow. I will address a few of your questions with this long one!

Just wanted to start with thanking each one of you so much for posting your comments! makes all the effort put in this piece worth it!

I will put this piece on online digital sale tonight! should be live on iTunes and equivalent soon!, will update this thread!

This piece was composed fully in logic and it is fully using sample libraries. I write everything note for note. in fact i sort of perform it in Logic with my own hands and midi control ( to control expression and dynamics) I don’t do loops or pre phrases or click my music in logic. Everything is played by me on my keyboard as a live take basically. Libraries include East West, vsl, project sam and Cinesamples.

DOGBELLE, I have emailed it to you, sorry for the late reply, just got off work.

Octoberman,
Thank you, I very much appreciate your feedback and taking the time to check the other pieces.

I do completely understand where you come from on Thematic development. Personally I do believe in recurring Motifs and Themes. I do it occasionally as well in many projects, in a rather very old fashion way too sometimes...the wagnerian method of it haha.

The pieces you have listened to, are in a symphonic poem forms. To tell you the truth. I always have a story telling subject in mind and the is what dictates the structure of the piece, i’m basically just telling you a story of human feelings and situations or journey. Each section is a place to visit and explore using your own sense of music. Some will work, some will not. to rephrase, some will appeal to your senses and flow with them, some will repeal them and you will not agree. that is very normal and nothing wrong with that at all and i dare say, part of the experience!

The music in it self is not about me personally or anything on my personal life. when you are agreeing or disagreeing. it is with the music, not with me. I’m not trying to say anything with them. I’m just a vessel that they passed through to be. I’m hoping i did a good job interpreting and executing them as they came to me. I actually don’t want you to think about me or try to figure me out to understand them. when you listen to them. Think about your self. imagine them to be your own and if you accept them as your own. they should take you many great places in your thoughts and provide good pleasure.

I hope that made sense, Anyway just a Guide to their structures smile as many composers want to be part of their music very much. I think that harms music sometimes and i feel the real power of music is when they are ours alone to enjoy and explore.

As for what I consider my self. well, sometimes i think i’m just one professional hobbiest, other times, i think I’m a film composer…I don’t know what i am anymore. Possibly delusional with my expectations. I honestly just want to reach everyone now. you mentioned being with the big league. I’m not sure if that is a good thing for me. too much pressure haha. My goal is just to reach an audience of sort and thats it. It gives me energy to know their is an audience for this. My output for pieces like the ones you heard has slowed down tremendously because i think I’m doing a horrible job marketing my self and i have not been able to reach my audience or find them.

I have put out an album contaning mastered versions of some of the pieces on youtube and sound cloud, called quixotic love. it is on iTunes now. I have not released a CD form because i don’t think the market is there for me to justify its costs. I will probably continue to invest in only digital download for now unless i somehow start getting enormous feed back on that. in which case i will do what my Audience demands! lol

Thank you for your thoughts though, i’ll tell you the truth, as a composer. its all i want to hear haha.
