I must say I am a bit disappointed in what I hear there, although I really liked almost all of the Petit scores of the 90s very much. What is missing here in many parts is his former fine melodic sense, his unique orchestral colours and his stylistic elegance. It is not at all in the same league as CYRANO, HUSSARD SUR LE TOIT or LES MISERABLES as the press kit there wants you to believe. What a wonderful score for example his LE PROF was almost 15 years ago. But what I hear here is much more superficial, some parts could even have been written by a lot of other composers. I had expected much more. Only on a few occasions the old typical French Petit style seems to crop up a bit in this score.

Wow, what a negative spirit! On the contrary, this soundtrack is amazing and has an extreme melodic sense. I cannot stop listening to this! Main theme is so catchy (it slightly reminds me the one from Diva by Cosma) and so wonderfully arranged. My favourite tracks are Travaux des champs, Le Mariage (expecially the 2nd part), La mise en bouteille and of course La Vie repart.
