Let's hope they are selling well. And I second Yavar's request for Oliver Wallace's score for Darby O'Gill. I actually only watched it for the first time this year on TCM and instantly fell in love with it (the music was a pretty big factor in that regard).

Thanks! Darby O'Gill is one of my favorite childhood films, and probably my favorite Disney film ever. It's just a wonderful story, great cast (including young Sean Connery, who cares if his accent is wrong?), impressive special effects for its day, and of course, absolutely wonderful music. Much more lively and Irish-sounding IMO than say, Victor Young's score to The Quiet Man (I always thought that film and score were really overrated, and Darby O'Gill overlooked in comparison.)

Oh, and the banshee in this film still gives me the willies like few full-on horror films ever have done. Go to the comments section on IMDb and you'll see: Full grown adults (even ones who didn't see the film as a kid) get nightmares -- it's kinda awesome! smile

When I recorded the film, I learned it scared my dad when he was a kid (though it was more the Cóista Bodhar that scared him than the banshee). As for the music, I must agree that Oliver Wallace did a really good job in giving it an Irish feel and wish the film itself would get more recognition. However, this is the first I've heard about complaints on Sean Connery's accent (yes, I know he's actually Scottish, but I felt it fit in rather nicely). I always thought it was his singing that garnered complaints even though his character isn't supposed to be good (the character even admits he "can't sing a lick" in one scene).

While I welcome the Disney classics I hope Intrada is also working on the "90s" stuff like Mighty Ducks and Operation Dumbo Drop. And I don't care if MD is temp track hell, I like the score all the same. razz

Well done, Olivier, and thanks for sharing!

(One remark though: I would have loved the last question to be "What about some projects in development, like Volunteers, Conan The Destroyer and The Ten Commandments?" wink)

Both conan and Volunteers are mentioned.

I actually thought a Young Indy set would be long in the works by now, but I'm very excited as well that if possible they'd perhaps do a complete set. Hopefully they can pull it off - fingers crossed!

Is that un-official confirmation that the Disney Legacy Collection is continuing ?

Anyway, regardless of that, great interview. Great they've found Volunteers but now just the legal side to work through, Conan the Destroyer still sounds a way off as well. No longer in any doubt that Jaws 2 will be arriving shortly.

Interesting look behind the scenes at a record label and how the economy can dictate what titles they look to release.

Thanks for posting it.
