I guess the third season of the Marvel project kicked off earlier this week with the premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D's 3rd season. (Here's the earlier AoS thread, which I didn't up because it was pretty well dead: http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=99080&forumID=7)

The show has had a rocky history. The first season started off weak, and to be honest never got much better as far as I was concerned, though a lot loved the last third of the season once the Winter Soldier crossover happened. The second started off much stronger -- it seems the showrunners are actively learning from their mistakes. Unfortunately after a strong first half the second half of the season tapered off in quality as it became overstuffed with plots and too many of them dragged on for too long.

Based on this first episode, season three is also off to a pretty good start. It has its problems -- Bobbi's character is too good at everything, I'm not really sold yet on the alien planet situation or the Inhuman monster fellow -- but they also seem to be taking the plot in only a manageable number of directions. And desperate Fitz is way, way better than brain-damaged Fitz. Weirdly, after noticeably downplaying Skye's sex appeal in season 2, now they're noticeably playing it way up in season 3. Anyway. Unless things go wildly off the rails, I'm on board for another season. Despite the show's problems, I've managed to make it all the way through each season, which is more than I can say for the most recent seasons of Arrow, Flash, and Gotham.

I'll also be very, very curious to see to what extent they tie this into Captain America: Civil War at the end of the season. With the Inhumans already hunted and wanted, I can't imagine Daisy's life will get any easier once superhuman registration is rolled out.

Here's what else to expect from Marvel's Phase 3:
2015:
Agent Carter, Season 2
Jessica Jones, Season 1

2016:
Luke Cage, Season 1
Daredevil, Season 2
Captain America: Civil War (aka Avengers 2.5 aka Iron Man 3.75 aka the first look at several of the heroes being rolled out over the next few years)
Doctor Strange

2017:
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Spider-Man
Thor: Ragnarok

2018:
Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1
Black Panther
Captain Marvel

2019:
Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2
Inhumans

plus the not-yet-scheduled Iron Fist and Defenders on Netflix, plus however many more seasons Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter run.

Boy this seems awfully complicated.

2017:Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Great, Karen Gillian will have to keep her head shaved for another two years. They better kill her character off. Her long flowing ginger red hair is so beautiful.
