BLADE RUNNER 2---Ridley Scott said more BLADE RUNNER sequels may be underway, "Everyone else is, so why not? I love to work. The French say “Work to live,” and I live to work. I’m very lucky to have a job that I adore...Some of it’s trying, but it’s like being in professional sport. It’s so competitive [that] you better keep bouncing the ball. You can’t rest.”
Scott said about Harrison Ford's reaction to the sequel script, “Harrison said, ‘Mehh,’ and I said, ‘No, read this.’ And I think he said, ‘This is the best script I’ve ever had.’ We’ve been working on it for a couple of years.”
Scott repeated his earlier comment that Rick Deckard is a replicant, “Of course he’s a bloody Replicant! He’s going to have to admit it…You’ll have to see the story. It’ll all make sense.”
He said about the sequel's setting, “It was 2017, so coming back it’ll be 2047, roughly. As young as you can play Ryan Gosling. He’s 34, but he looks 27 when he’s doing his push-ups. So maybe 2050.”
Scott said about the ALIEN: PARADISE LOST sequel to PROMETHEUS, “Have you ever read PARADISE LOST, by Milton? In a funny kind of way, it’s an interesting basis for the darkness of [ALIEN: PARADISE LOST]. Where the good-looking guy, who is evil as s–t, gets all the girls and goes to the nightclubs. The other guy, who is not quite as good-looking, is boring as hell and stays home. So in a funny kind of way, we used that as the basis for it, it’ll be ALIEN: PARADISE LOST. Which is very spooky, because it continues after the last one, where Elizabeth Shaw [Noomi Rapace] says, ‘I wanna go where they came from.’ And you’ve got Michael Fassbender in two parts, so she’ll slowly put him back together. They will go to the world of the Engineer…That’s where they’re going to go. They will find out who would design such an awful bio-mechanoid creature, like a massive piece of bacteria.”
Also, Denis Villeneuve, director of BLADE RUNNER 2, said he wants to direct a James Bond movie, "I was raised with James Bond. I love James Bond movies. I would love to do a James Bond movie one day."

I AM PILGRIM---Matthew Vaughn (KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS) will direct the movie based on the spy novel.

MANIAC COP---remake underway of the 1988 horror cop movie which starred Tom Atkins and Bruce Campbell. John Hyams (UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING), son of director/writer Peter Hyams (OUTLAND, CAPRICORN ONE), is the director.

THE MAN WHO SOLD THE MOON---tv project underway based on the Robert A. Heinlein novella about a businessman who starts a private company to colonize the Moon.

THE FLASH---Franz Drameh will play Jay Jackson.

DEATH NOTE---Nat Wolff will star in the Warner Bros. live-action movie based on the anime.

In my Bum Review voice- “THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!”

ALIEN: PARADISE LOST. They will go to the world of the Engineer…That’s where they’re going to go. They will find out who would design such an awful bio-mechanoid creature, like a massive piece of bacteria.”

Alien was a simple straight forward classic monster movie. To much thinking going on here.

Just because Alien was stripped down doesn't mean they all have to be. I just wish he'd have kept "Alien" out of the title since it's a different animal (no pun intended) even though Prometheus leads to Alien.

Even Aliens was a simple shoot em up action flick. Aliens bread, impregnate, and bread some more. Why do they need a back story or origin? I love the unexplained mystery of older films. Let the viewer use their own imaginations, if they feel they need to fill in some "blanks". Simplicity rules the day. IMHO of course!

Totally agree. There's can be so much mystery in simplicity. It's kind of ironic and sad that the Alien films have become less and less "alien" and more "earthly" as they have gone along. I think I checked-out way back in '85 with the Alien Queen that everyone else gets so excited about. Deceptively unimaginative idea, IMO. I thought at the time "Meh... it's a big wasp and does wasp type things. Nothing really alien at all".

Whereas the life cycle of the monster in the original is COMPLETELY strange and unknowable - cocooning living victims who "dissolve" into eggs by some horrifying process that we never see. Now THAT'S properly alien and terrifying because there's no earthly precedent for it!

Bottom line is I'll go see the next one, but to be honest I couldn't give a toss about flat-footed "origins". They'll probably all turn out to be Greek gods dressed in togas and looking like Michael Forest from that old Star Trek ep. Might as well be. wink

Worse yet, they don't wash up before handling the dough again.

George Luca$ laughs at you.

I'm looking forward to Revenant a lot. I hope it does well. I had no real interest in Bladerunner 2, but i do like the director's other stuff. Prometheus was abysmal, so i have little interest in the sequels. I just can't trust Scott's judgement about screenplays after Prometheus and The Counselor.

That's a very common misconception. It CAN be enjoyed on that level, but it would never have been the classic it is if that was all there was to it. The film is chockful of layers (like the pervasive Freudian symbolism) that can be enjoyed and/or experienced.

In other words, too LITTLE thinking going on when approaching that universe.

I'm glad Scott is expanding the mythology with all of this in mind (PROMETHEUS was my favourite movie of 2012 -- one of the most underrated films in recent times). I only wish Blomkamp's film had kept to the timeline too, picking up where 4 left off instead of 'retconning' everything.
