Hi Graham, Zardos has laid all out, thankfully. No jazzy Schifrin in this creation. Is Schifrin's approach on THE FOX an anomaly? I haven't heard him like this elsewhere. Where did the recordings on the Warner release come from? The Warner France CD simply reissued the Warner Bros LP from '67 (which was a separate recording session that Lalo did as a recording artist). Prior to The Fox, Schifrin blended jazz with chamber music in scores such as Les Felins & Once a Thief. After The Fox (pun), non-jazzy Schifrin can be heard in Planet of the Apes (TV), Telefon, The Amityville Horror & (amongst others) his unused music for The Exorcist. No jazzy Schifrin to be heard in his symphonic music for things as diverse as A.D. (Anno Domini) and Abominable... I haven't seen this movie in over thirty years, but it was recently shown on Turner Classic Movies. I DVR'd it and am watching it now, and I just recognized parts that would be used later in the "Planet of the Apes" TV series. I actually wasn't paying attention during the main titles as to who did the music, but didn't take long to hear Schifrin.
