I am really tired of them ALL saying "180 gram vinyl", not 170 or 160 or 150 gram, you know it is that good vinyl, that 180 gram.

It's because the consumers who enjoy vinyl want 180. Does it improve anything, I don't think so but it is heavier so it's less likely to get bent or warp the way thinner vinyl would.

78 RPM's were heavier than 33 ones and very fragile. I'm not sure if 78's were made of a different plastic vs. 33's which made them more breakable.

I think all this 180, limited, etc. is good marketing selling gimmicks.

I wish Intrada the best. More sales, more money, more CD soundtracks for us. I emphasize on CD's.

Why in the hell is vinyl coming back? Same content as CD? Just do not understand why labels are going "Forward To The Past"? Just for the art work? Original movie art work is the only way to go. People have been complaining about storing CDs in jewel cases, good luck storing more LPs! No sale on any new vinyl.

Well, as at least two labels have pointed out, there's a niche market and LP's are selling, so as long as they move, why not make some money on it?

LLLR's has two coming: "Krull" (unspecified date) and in November an LP of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".

Hope, that KRULL will be a double LP with the complete score and not only an re-issue of the old LP.

Iam truly dissapointed with Intrada`s TROLL release because its a score, that was avaible exactly the same way on LP before. For collectors new LP-releases are only interesting if the are never avaible before on LP or (at least) expanded (like ALIENS or LEGEND). You can find the first release of the TROLL-LP everywhere on Ebay for low money.

A strange (and not good) desicion by Intrada to release THIS one for theire first LP-realese after so long time, because i dont think it will sell well.

Is nobody willing to give Intrada the benefit of the doubt that they're not complete incompetents at knowing their audience? They've pressed only 500 copies of this. The bar for "selling well" seems on the low side. I wouldn't call anything in this business a "gimme," but they know better than any of us what this has to do to be a success.

Please recall that for the CD release, Intrada produced a brand new remastering from the original elements. It is certainly that remaster (or an even newer one) that is on the new LP.

Also, a quick glance at Amazon and eBay reveals copies of the old Reprise LP selling for anywhere from $40-70 (before shipping). So if I'm a collector who wants to shop conveniently, today, I can get a copy from Intrada brand new, for less money, with superior artwork and remastered sound. This would not be a difficult decision.

Interesting to see how Intrada's participation in the 'couture' vinyl trend will sell.

What happened to the good old days when real LP's cost something like $4.99, maybe less, at Times Square's KING KAROL?

I remember KING KAROL and THE COLONY RECORD SHOP and 99 cent cut-outs at E.J. KORVETTES. That was 45 years ago and 3,000 miles from here. A kid became a senior citizen. The only thing that can stop time is a photograph.smile

The success of these endeavors depends wholly on their choice of titles. Not completely sold on any of the announced titles thus far, from any of the soundtrack labels.

Agreed. I am sorry INTRADA- this is not a good choice for release on vinyl, especially a premiere release. I wholly believe you need to go to The Silver Age actually. The 70's were rife with killer cop, spy, thriller scores. I know I am repeating myself, but titles like French Connection, Taking of Pelham 123, freaking BRUBAKER would be awesome-and scores of that ilk are what people want.

Let the other labels do the horror/fantasy thing.

Plus, that price is an ouchy.

I don't see why older scores would make better vinyl releases. Right now there is a market for both new and old music on vinyl. I'm a fan of older scores but I am not more willing to buy vinyls. I don't mind, however, what Intrada is doing, either on CD or vinyl, as this is not a score I would be interested in. So I don't see why people are arguing, unless of course you are looking for that particular score on CD.

It's probably more a timing thing. Halloween is right around the corner.

I'm one HAPPY camper with my new Troll LP, it looks and sounds INCREDIBLE! They spent the time and effort to really make this shine and I think this was a great choice for their first LP.
