The original movie is canon. What ever the director wanted or intended to do afterwards has no baring on the film as it was presented. Deckard is clearly human in the theatrical release of the film.

so Ridley has made a hindsight u-turn coz he forgot to put it in the original film? As someone said, probably designed to get fans arguing and drum up some chat and publicity ahead of a forthcoming project. They do that, you know!
