Larson and Bridges met when they were supporting players in the cast of Johnny Trouble (1957), starring Ethel Barrymore in her final film. They later formed a production company, and Larson produced such Bridges films as The Baby Maker (1970), Mike’s Murder (1984), Perfect (1985) and Bright Lights, Big City (1988).

I read about Mr. Larson's death in today's New York Times. Better picture of him in Variety, but The Times gave him a bit more breathing room about the 'romantic affair he was having with Actor Montgomery Clift'. Wow, LUCKY LARSON!

I've been watching The Adventures of Superman on MeTV with great enjoyment, and Jack Larson plays the absolute lead in many episodes. And if you watch closely, he was a very good actor, maybe the best in the cast. He was easily better and more genuine than the expected standards for kids' TV.

Sad news. He was such a "cutie pie" back in the 50's.
Rest in peace.

The Jack Larson who recorded for Fraternity Records was actually a different "Jack Larson." This was verified by Jack Larson number one (the one who played Jimmy Olsen) a few years ago.

Thank you. I was going to post that I didn't believe it was his voice whatsoever.

Yeah,I really enjoy "the other Jack Larson" as well. Jack Larson number two appeared in a couple of films, namely TEENAGE MILLIONAIRE (in which he warbled the rockin' tune "Back to School Blue"), and THE YOUNG SWINGERS (in which he did some celebrity impressions).

In the great tradition, the '45 version of "Back to School Blue" had more of a rock and roll arrangement, while the film version had a jazzier big-band arrangement.

Perhaps the two Jack Larsons were one of the reason that SAG decided that two actors couldn't use the same stage name? I thought for years that "Jimmy Olsen" had later become a rock and roll singer.

Twice as lucky. As I heard it, Clift and Kevin McCarthy were vying for Larson's attention.

I remember his son, actor Darrell Larson, introduced him on a radio event to read some short, non-fiction stories he wrote.

One was about meeting Greta Garbo after she retired. It was wonderful.

I'd never heard about Kevin McCarthy before. However, if indeed there was some sort of 'contest' for Larson's attentions, I can't imagine much if any sway towards Kevin McCarthy when he's standing next to Montgomery Clift!
McCarthy had, well, teeth like a horse. And on that note, I think I'll leave off any further comparisons.

Personally, I've always thought that each was very good-looking in his way. But, what the hell do I know? I'm straight.

Incidentally, when somebody started another Larson thread on the General Board, I added a link to this thread here, so I guess it's only right and proper that I now post a link here to the other thread. No sense in two sets of Larson fans keeping secrets from each other.
