Pilot season is upon us! I obviously don't have a complete rundown, but a few I've heard of:

The two I'm most curious about this fall (or winter or whenever) are, for a change, on SyFy: The Expanse and The Magicians.

Heroes Reborn - I will probably check out.

Blindspot - has a stupid concept but I like the cast so may be in for an episode to see how it plays.

Scream Queens - I like the concept but as a Ryan Murphy joint I may find it too annoying.

Supergirl - looks pretty bad from the trailer.

Limitless - Interesting that Bradley Cooper is reprising his role, may check out an episode.

Minority Report - trailer looked pretty crappy to me, probably not watching this.

Quantico - will probably wait for reviews before checking out an episode.

Is there anything you're particularly looking forward to watching?

EDIT: crap, forgot about all the online "TV"! Certainly looking forward to Jessica Jones on Netflix and am meaning to watch Hand of God with Ron Perlman on Amazon.

I'm looking forward to SUPERGIRL myself.

Likewise THE MUPPETS, BLINDSPOT and ASH vs. EVIL DEAD.

All and anything good that piques my interest, so I appreciate all tips. They will be incorporated into this thread of mine (that now also encompasses non-paranormal shows):

I tend to wait for a show to survive its first season rather than jump on board from the start. I love binge watching and not have to juggle between shows.

I ended watching Helix after 4-5 episodes because it's a pretentious sci-fi show with bad plotlines and techno-babble. I've started the MTV(?) adaptation of Scream and so far it was not as bad as I feared, only a couple of episodes into that. I plan to check out the Patrick Stewart series Blunt Talk and I've also got the Ron Perlman show Hand of God lined up. My brother also turned me on to Damages, which I also hope to get to.

Let me know if any of the new shows are any good. smile

P.S. Ash vs Evil Dead I'll make an exception for and try to watch early on.

Looking forward to the WESTWORLD series, even if I have no connection to the original film. It stars Norwegians.

And perhaps a Norwegian Eurovision song sung by the cast? big grin

Ha! Not that again. Still love the THING remake, though (unlike most everyone else).

I am eagerly awaiting Sci-Fi's:

THE EXPANSE

Love the book series by James S.A. Corey (Pen name for George R. R. Martin's two assistants) - Show looks great too.

Also Westworld - can't wait to see that too!

I keep waiting to hear if any UK channel has gotten Supergirl, but apart from that and maybe Westworld, I dunno.

Yeah, but I'll bet the Norwegian robots were made in Japan.

Is there anything you're particularly looking forward to watching?

The Player. Wesley Snipes on TV. Nobody knows how to shoot action anymore, so there's no question that the show will suck. It will be filled with shaky cam and quick cuts, will have a boring score, and there will always be a few of those pretentious writers/producers who think a decent crime-of-the-week show is beneath them, and will try to establish some deep mythology, thus further ruining the campy fun it could be. I will still watch it. It IS Snipes on TV.

Might check out Blindspot and Limitless. The premise of Limitless sounds just a bit like the cancelled-after-first-season John Doe. The Apprentice hosted by Schwarzenegger... Maybe an episode or two, just because?

Beats Snipes in prison.

I swore off Gotham at the end of last season. Other than Doctor Who nothing else.
Edit: Opps just realized the OP said "new" shows. Oh well my answer is the same!

The Bastard Executioner is one that I am definitely interested in. Not so much so for most of the networks new shows...

Blind Spot...Bourne Identity meets Prison Break...pass

Minority Report...another Spielberg t.v. production which probably means another failure...but I like the story concept so I will probably watch a few episodes.

Fargo...DEFINITELY am going to check this out.

Limitless and Quantico... Very ambivalent on seeing either one.

Supergirl...looks ridiculous.

Heroes Reborn...I am curious more than anything but I am not expecting much.

Scream Queens...oh yeah...another definite.

Childshood End and The Expanse...not until December on SyFy but I love both of the story lines so I will catch them as well.

Blood and Oil...will wait on the reviews for this one.

Other than that, am only going to watch my previous favorites from seasons past.

Watched the first episode of Heroes Reborn, along with the associated video thingy bridging the gap between the original series and this. It was watchable, but didn't really resonate for me at all. Noah Bennet putting on those horn-rimmed glasses for the first time wasn't the iconic shot I think they thought it would be. The video game thing isn't working for me. In fact, almost none of the character/plotlines are interesting enough to keep me invested right now. And the special effects are pretty rough sometimes. If it gets good word of mouth I may persevere later but for now this one's on the backburner.

After the end of "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers and Sisters" a few years back, my Sunday evening viewing was left in the lurch. I didn't want to jump into the middle of any series I hadn't been following (like "The Good Wife"), and some of the new ones I tried (e.g., "Pan Am") didn't pan out. I liked last year's start-up "Madam Secretary," so I'm staying with it. And I gave this year's "Blood and Oil" and "Quantico" a shot last week.

"Blood and Oil" seems like the better bet. I'm a Don Johnson fan. And the idea of present-day North Dakota as the new American gold rush is an interesting conceit. Also, it seems like, for the most part, the story will unfold linearly. "Quantico" will take a few more outings to prove itself. The cast seems capable. But like a number of new age shows, in episode one it has made a 9-month flash forward in time, and looks like it will spend the first season slowly filling in that gap. Call me old-fashioned, but I'm not a big fan of that method of storytelling.

Please, SBD, tell me how The Muppets did. I couldn't get my TV to work.

The audio clips I heard on the radio were a little lame.

Decided to give Quantico a shot.

Minority Report marks the welcome return of Paramount Television as an entity (hands up everyone annoyed about the remastered Star Trek: The Next Generation having the CBS Television Studios logo plastered onto the end), but the sped-up variant doesn't do it any favours.

I enjoyed the Pilot for CODE BLACK...I might stick with that one to see how this new show unfolds...:-)
