According to the International Film Critics!I absolutely LOVE this film and the praise it's getting, I hope it carries through to the Oscars, it deserves it. I know it probably won't, it's not the kind of film the Academy goes for, which is incredibly unfortunate.
If you are looking for the Oscars to honor the movie what you feel is the most deserving your are in for a lot of disappointment. I do not mean I disagree with you thoughts, but the Oscars rarely make much sense and more often than not the Best Picture goes to the 3rd or 4th 'most deserving'. Beyond that, they Academy has taken on the social cause slant, so they are more often shying away from violence and toward more conventional fare.
Don't be surprised if it at least gets nominations beyond the usual actor/director/score/screenplay categories most people care majorly about. The categories they don't show nominations and wins for are where Fury Road may be represented.
Um, aren't there four months left in the year?
This year in film ended when Mad Max left theaters.
That's incredible news, I'm thrilled!I would have mentioned it myself but I'm trying not to annoy certain members on this board.
Don't let anybody hold you back, Henry. You're always polite and upbeat , which is more than can be said for some. I didn't see Fury Road as the be-all-end-all, but it is a damn good, entertaining flick. In fact, picked up the Blu Ray on Black Friday for 9 bucks, and will watch it again soon.
I can see it winning best director but not best film. That or The Revenant. Just for their technical accomplishments and the ways they approached filming them. As much as I enjoyed Mad Max I wouldn't give it either myself. But it would be up there for best director.
The National Board of Review have really dropped their standards, awarding best film of the year to a stupid action flick. or maybe it's their commentary on the fact that 2015 is going down as the lamest year in movie history?
