Muhammad: The Messenger of God composed by A.R. Rahman - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3921314/

It took like 7 years to complete the film and it is Iran's most expensive film to date. A.R. Rahman called it his most daring project:

"Music maestro A.R. Rahman has spoken out about his most daring project ‘Muhammad: Messenger Of God’, which recently released.

Rahman, who scored the soundtrack of the film, told Deccan Chronicle, “It still hasn’t sunk in that the movie has released. The movie was in the making for the past six to seven years. I know how the director nurtured it with attention to details. We can only wish for good things. It has to happen. In this case all of us are lucky that the movie is getting rave reviews. It’s payback for all the hard work.”

Asked on how it felt to be working with Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi, Rahman said, “It was a long-cherished dream to work in a beautiful Iranian movie and a director like Majidi. I learned a lot in the process working with a master director like him. We recorded the music across five countries including India, Iran, Germany, France and Egypt with 200 musicians and it has been mixed in Chennai. I think this is one of my most daring attempts at composing.”

The film had a huge release in Iran over the weekend and garnered praise from all corners".

Now to some score clips I found on YouTube. It sounds quite odd, but keep in mind that this is almost a 3 hour film, who knows what the rest sounds like? I like what i'm hearing though.

Here are some bits of score I found on YouTube -

Here is some additional info I found about the film and score on Wikipedia:

The film score is composed by A. R. Rahman. His inclusion in the project was confirmed in May 2014.[29] It took six months for A. R. Rahman to understand the kind of score that Majid Majidi wanted for 'Muhammad: The Messenger of God'.[30][31] He worked on the score for a year and a half.[32] Singer Sami Yusuf has recorded a track for the film.[33] In November 2014, Rahman recorded the Le Trio Joubran for the score.[34] Further sessions of recording with the trio were held in Paris by February 2015.[35] Geoff Foster co-produced the motion picture score with Rahman.[36] The score comprises experimental melodies and rhythms.[37]A. R. Rahman and his team recorded the music across five countries including India, Iran, Germany, France and Egypt with 200 musicians.[38]

The producers of the film have planned two sequels that would complete the trilogy of films. The sequel one would focus on Muhammad's life from his teenage years to his 40s. The next one would depict life after 40s until when he ultimately becomes the Prophet of Islam.[24]

I wonder if there will be a score release for this?

So they finally finished the film? Cool. I've been looking forward to the Rahman score, in particular, for a LONG time now. The film I'm more skeptical about -- seems like a religious propaganda film, much like an extravagant Fox Faith production.

This must be the most controversial film score of 2015 -

Indian musician and composer AR Rahman has responded to criticism against him for composing music for a film on Prophet Muhammad.

Rahman's response which he posted on Facebook said he composed the music in "good faith".

The Raza Academy in Mumbai said it issued a "fatwa" against Rahman and the Iranian director of the film Majid Majidi.

The institute also wrote to the Indian government, seeking a ban on the film.

The Oscar winning composer and musician was born a Hindu, but converted to Islam in 1989 at age 23, changing his name from RS Dileep Kumar to Allah Rakha Rahman.

Correspondents say his decision to make a public statement on Facebook is interesting, given that the musician generally steers clear of media interviews and talking about his beliefs. Although Rahman is active on social media, he usually uses it to promote his latest work or to point people to other interesting compositions.

In his statement Rahman said, "What, and if, I had the good fortune of facing Allah and He were to ask me on Judgement Day: I gave you faith, talent, money, fame and health... why did you not do music for my beloved Muhammad film? A film whose intention is to unite humanity, clear misconceptions and spread my message that life is about kindness, about uplifting the poor, and living in the service of humanity and not mercilessly killing innocents in my name."

Hope the score will be released.

The moment you see the name of the Prophet in the title without 'PbuH', you know this is going to be problematic. And the few shots of his back etc. .... whoever thought they'd get away with that? Especially now ....

Was it a stand worth taking? They knew what they were getting into.

The previous Jarre-scored film was well received: this new film even lifts the title, but, just to dumb down, adds the name.

'Not a lot of marks for imagination there, either on the micro or the macro.

The score's opening cue is just a shameless reworking of Gabriel's 'Last Temptation' opening.

Make something profound from that!

Agreed. One of my all time favourite scores, beautifully performed and relased by Tadlow and James.
