Oh man did I love this (can't wait to watch the HOURS of bonus footage)!!!!! Not sure if score fans will also love it as it is only tangentially related.
when I heard about this project i was bit worried. I thought the take was going to be "these guys are the ones really responsible for all the hit records , not the lousy rock groups who could barely play their instruments"
Not so.*
If you know the music of the era ,you will love this. If you are a musician -pro or amateur- you will really dig this even more.
check it out! bruce
ps kudos to the director for presenting ALL the archive footage in the standard 1:33 ratio- unlike most contemporary docs which crop to 1:78
*ironically, Emil Richards is the one musician who admits to, initially ,ridiculing Frank Zappa - ironic since he is a classically trained musician who could write out and play his own scores!!!!!!!! Of course, once they heard him play they were all buddies. [This is in the bonus features]
