Producers already know, in general, the sorts of scores that fans hope for and will purchase. I don't think anybody needed to be told that "Predator 2" was one of those scores. I disagree. With the first Predator score I would say that was the case, it was an unreleased fan favorite and after the Varese went OOP it was still heavily in demand with crazy prices on the secondary market. With Predator 2, the original album wasn't a 30 minute Varese album but a 45 minute one that has always been readily available. It got released when the movie came out and for a looooong time it seemed like it was going to be the only release, it featured most of the highlights. I remember those early request threads had a lot of people questioning wether they wanted it expanded, most just wanted a remastering of the sound which the general consensus was that that was lacking and not the extra music. Now I'm not saying this board was the catalyst for Varese to consider expanding it, but I'm sure it contributed. I sincerely doubt the mindset at Varese a decade ago was that there needed to be a Predator 2 expansion when their regular album was still selling. After the intrada release(s) sold like hotcakes and there was even a bootleg version floating around ebay and the internet of predator 2, I'm sure they knew demand was there after the expansion climate took place, but it might still have taken them some convincing. They could have just decided one day "hey lets expand Predator 2" but for a long time it seemed like Varese had zero interest in doing this one. So I say thank you Mutant.

Francis, you discount a lot of reality labels have to deal with. For starters: labels have titles they are already working on (some takes years to go up for sale), labels have money sitting on titles in-development and not yet sold out so there is a finite amount of cash they can play with, and important AFM re-use fees have drastically changed over the last decade or so; not only was P2 recorded in Calironia but it was also a title Varese held in perpetuity, so no other label could do it. You can discount major titles when thinking about our influence; film score loving label heads donm't have to be told about those -- they're fans themselves, they know already. Maybe mroe obscure things forgotten or titles individule label heads may not have heard before can be brought to their attention thanks to us.

Well, considering The Mutant moved on from Predator 2 to Chain Reaction - complete and that's one of the next titles, over the much more necessary and popular Air Force One or LA Confidential, I think it's clear that Varese is listening to his requests and his requests alone.

If you ask me if I believe Varese would have still released Predator 2 expanded with no online outcry for the title (this includes fora, fan bootlegs, social media etc.), my answer would be "no". Regardless of what legal or licensing hurdles. It would have simply been much easier for Varese to continue selling their in print album version. Go to their website, it's there and still in print. To think that this forum (or any of the other) has zero influence on both soundtrack producers and customers is highly naive IMO. The influence of individual members is a whole different matter.

For the longest time, people kept posting they wanted Predator 2 expanded. And lo and behold, it finally happened. I was left with the impression that we must have led to the decision to produce that CD. Hmmm. I think people here could be pushing for a Frank Skinner box till kingdom come and nothing would happen. IMHO it has more to do with the Alien/Predator fan base that Predator 2 finally happened.
