Independent British distributors 88 Films have revealed that they are planning to release Children of the Corn Collector's Edition Blu-ray box set. The release will be available for purchase on November 23.

Having experienced a superb first eight months in 2015, including with their critically acclaimed AMERICAN NINJA COLLECTION, 88 Films is thrilled to present another box set of bloody brilliant thrills: CHILDREN OF THE CORN.

Released in 1984, and adapted from a popular Stephen King short story, the original CHILDREN OF THE CORN became one of the most successful of the legendary author's page-to-screen adaptations. The hit horror sickie headlines a pre-TERMINATOR Linda Hamilton and Peter Horton (TV's THIRTYSOMETHING) as a travelling couple who unwittingly become trapped in the fictional town of Gatlin, Nebraska, and find themselves stalked by a creepy clan of young cultists. No adult is allowed to survive in Gatlin or else, their prophecy predicts, the harvest will collapse. Suffice to say, all hell soon breaks loose (literally) and demonic entities ensure that Hamilton and her husband are in for a long night... Co-starring popular genre face Courtney Gains (THE 'BURBS) and given a malevolent mid-western touch by director Fritz Kiersch (TUFF TURF), CHILDREN OF THE CORN remains one of the most spine-tingling terror titles of the 1980s.

Unsurprisingly, this blockbuster bout of bloodshed led to a franchise of fan favourite sequels - although it would take until 1993 for CHILDREN OF THE CORN II: THE FINAL SACRIFICE to rear its rural shocks. Once again set in Nebraska, this frightful follow-up has some members of a nearby town choosing to adopt the surviving adolescents from the previous pot-boiler. Unfortunately for them, a demonic entity out in the cornfields is planning to possess the supposedly sane school-kids so that a new crimson-caked celebration can begin. Featuring some malicious set pieces, and a script co-written by Gilbert Adler (producer of SUPERMAN RETURNS and VALKYRIE), CHILDREN OF THE CORN II: THE FINAL SACRIFICE carves up a thrilling entry into the winning franchise formula.

Also re-mastered in HD for this very special set is CHILDREN OF THE CORN III: URBAN HARVEST (1995), the concluding episode in the series to see the light of a cinema screen. Perhaps the most potent of all the CHILDREN OF THE CORN sequels, this third instalment gave an early role to future Oscar winner Charlize Theron (MONSTER/ MAD MAX: FURY ROAD). With Nebraska cowering in fear at the thought of another child-led slice and dice revolution, two youngsters are adopted and taken to Chicago - where, it would seem, they are safe from any satanic influences! Alas, the opposite is true, and even big city life is revealed to be irrelevant to our clan of pint-sized psychopaths. Another winner, with a slow-burning sense of suspense and plenty of gory thrills and spills, CHILDREN OF THE CORN III: URBAN HARVEST is a spook-fest that more than deserves its BluRay reappraisal.

Accompanying this delicious package will also be a new full length documentary feature, THE LIFE, LEGACY AND LEGEND OF DON BORCHERS. As the title suggests this labour of love undertaking focuses on the charismatic and frequently unrecognised genius producer behind CHILDREN THE CORN as well as such B-movie classics as BEASTMASTER (1982), ANGEL (1984), CRIMES OF PASSION (1984), VAMP (1986), TWO MOON JUNCTION (1989), DESIRE AND HELL AT SUNSET MOTEL (1991), DOPPLEGANGER (1993), THE DEMOLITIONIST (1995) and many more. Developed and produced by Calum Waddell and Naomi Holwill of High Rising Productions, and directed by Jim Kunz, this feature production is sure to appease anyone curious about the challenges of creating quality low budget genre cinema.

Scheduled for release on November 23rd, with an RRP of £34.99, on both Blu-ray and DVD, the CHILDREN OF THE CORN collector's edition set, which will also come with a franchise-spanning booklet from author Calum Waddell, is sure to have horror film fans screaming with anticipation!

British distributors 88 Films have announced that they will launch a brand new collection of Asian films. Later this year, the distributors will also release on Blu-ray Steve Carver's River of Death and Andrew V. McLaglen's Sahara.

Hex

Directed by the late, great Kuei Chih-Hung, whose output also includes the frequently censored "nasty" The Killer Snakes (1974), this formidable Eastern frightener has an abused woman caught in a strange mystery of manslaughter and macabre happenings. To say anything else would be to spoil one of the Orient's most influential terror titles, but rest assured that Hex has a few spooky surprises up its sleeve. Directed by Kuei Chih-Hung and starring Tanny Tien Ni, Lee Sau-Kei, Hon Gwok-Choi, Lau Yat-Fan, and Chan Si-Gaai.

STREET DATE: SUMMER 2016.

River of Death

In 1945, with the Allies approaching, two German officers ransack a monastery in Greece and make plans to escape with the loot. However, one of the Germans is left behind by his partner, while the other escapes by submarine from Wilhelmshaven. Forty years elapse, a weathy millionaire, Smith, hires Hamilton, allegedly an expert on the jungle, to lead him to the ruins of a lost Indian civilization recently discovered in the wilderness of the Amazon jungle in Brazil. The entourage faces giant anacondas, giant spiders, cannibalistic natives, and so on, discovering a settlement of Nazi war criminals and their descendants, living as if the Third Reich had never ended. It is soon clear that Smith's real purpose has little to do with archaeology, and more to do with revenge. Starring Michael Dudikoff, Robert Vaughn, Donald Pleasence, Herbert Lom, and L.Q. Jones.

STREET DATE: SUMMER 2016.

Sahara

The passions and the engines run as hot as the desert sands in Sahara, a romantic adventure featuring international superstar Brooke Shields.

Shields portrays Dale, an American heiress who disguises herself as a man to take the place of her late father in a 1927 auto race through the Sahara Desert. Before she can finish the race she finds herself caught up in a conflict between two powerful men: the villainous Lord Beg (Ronald Lacey - Raiders Of The Lost Ark) and the dashing Jaffar (Lambert Wilson - The Matrix Reloaded).

Also featuring John Rhys-Davis (Lord Of The Rings) and an evocative musical score by Ennio Morricone (The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly), Sahara is an exotic race to the heart of adventure.

British label 88 Films has announced that it will add a number of new titles to its Blu-ray catalog. Amongst them are: Eliminators (1986), Killer Constable (1980), and Navajo Joe (1966).

The Mighty Peking Man

Synopsis: King Kong comes to Hong Kong in The Mighty Peking Man, a uniquely Shaw Brothers spin on the ageless theme of beauty and the beast. The beast, seven stories high and hailing from the Himalayas, makes his way to the jungles of India in the wake of a violent earthquake. The beauty is Swiss starlet Evelyn Kraft, a sexy blonde Tarzanette who is the Mighty Peking Man's best friend. Both are discovered by Danny Lee, a handsome young explorer who brings the odd couple back to Hong Kong, where Evelyn is almost raped and the monster runs amuck. Instead of the Empire State Building, the special effects laden climax takes place at the Connaught Centre, then Hong Kong's tallest building. Plenty of action, location shooting in India, and an inter-racial romance make this one of Shaw Brothers' most unique motion pictures. Variety's verdict: "High camp, Chinese style."

Special Features:
NEW Restoration of the film
Mandarin Soundtrack with English Subtitles
English Dub Soundtrack
Original Trailer
Booklet Notes by Dr. Calum Waddell
STREET DATE: FEBRUARY 13.

Amuck!

Synopsis: Her role as Miss Moneypenny in the lamentable James Bond spoof CASINO ROYALE may have set hearts a flutter, but it was for her part in classic Italian shockers like BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA and DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING that cemented Barbara Bouchet's status as one of the most libidinous icons of Euro-cult cinema.

Happily, Silvio Amadio's saucy thriller AMUCK! fits snugly into this giallo-centric category too, and here Bouchet stars as Greta; a nubile young secretary under the recent employment of the cravat-wearing Richard (Farley Granger, ROPE). Partial to the occasional bout of swinging along with his wanton wife Eleanora (Rosalba Neri, SLAUGHTER HOTEL), Richard also seems to harbour a dark secret: the mysterious whereabouts of his missing former assistant, Sally, whom Greta knows very intimately indeed…

With its blend of leeringly-lensed slow motion sex scenes and slick spectacle, AMUCK! is an erotically charged masterclass in murder and deception, brought lovingly to life in high definition thanks to those lovable deviants at 88 Films!

Special Features:
NEW 2K Restoration from the original 35mm negative
Uncompressed English Audio
Uncompressed Italian Audio with Newly Translated English Subtitles
An Icon Amuck - Barbara Bouchet

Enlisting the help of a beautiful woman and a mysterious ninja, he pursues the scientist in hopes of stopping him before he can further harm humanity. Andrew Prine (The Town That Dreaded Sundown) and Denise Crosby (Star Trek: The Next Generation) star.

Special Features:
Restored HD master in original 1.85:1 Aspect Ratio
Original Stereo Soundtrack
Original Trailer
Reversible Sleeve with Alternate Artwork
STREET DATE: FEBRUARY 27.

Syndicate Sadists

Synopsis: Mention the name Umberto Lenzi, and chances are folk'll rattle off the flesh-ripping frenzy of NIGHTMARE CITY or CANNIBAL FEROX. But for Lenzi himself, there was no genre that proved too much for his directorial prowess, not least the distinctly Italian-style of crime flick – the Poliziotteschi.

Boasting a taut script by Vincenzo Mannino (HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK), and featuring Hollywood icon Joseph Cotton (THE THIN MAN) as a scheming Mafioso, Lenzi's SYNDICATE SADISTS is a potent example of the dexterous Tuscan journeyman's compelling thriller work; a fabulous concoction of eye-watering violence and white-knuckle thrills, as an ex-cop (Thomas Milian, THE CYNIC, THE RAT AND THE FIST) seeks retribution against two warring mafia families after his brother is killed during a kidnap investigation.

With hints of THE GODFATHER, YOJIMBO and even RAMBO (Milian had picked up a copy of David Morrell's novel in an airport), SYNDICATE SADISTS finally makes its UK bow on a lip-smackingly gorgeous DVD from 88 Films, whose Italian Collection is your first stop for classic Euro capers that demand rediscovery.

Special Features:
Remastered from the Original Negative
Uncompressed English Soundtrack
Mike Malloy on Syndicate Sadists
Remembering Rambo - An Interview with Director Umberto Lenzi
STREET DATE: MARCH 13.

Killer Constable

Synopsis: During the Ching Dynasty period, 20,000 taels of gold are stolen from the Palace vaults. The Empress Dowager orders her chief security guard Liu Ching Tien to capture the thieves and have the gold returned within three months. Leng Tien Ying (Chen Kuan-tai), the Court Chief Constable, is given this difficult assignment.

One robber is caught, and provides clues about his accomplices. Meanwhile, the robber-chief, Feng Feng Jia (Ku Feng), sends his own top killer after Leng but without success.

Feng's men make several more attempts against Leng's life, but only succeed in wounding him. Leng finally confronts the robber-chief in a fight, and Feng, at the point of death, reveals the truth about the real masterbrain behind the theft. Leng sets out once more, to achieve justice and complete his mission.

Consumed by hatred, driven by violence, his name is Navajo Joe and he wants a dollar for every head he rolls and every skull he splits.

Directed by the creator of the legendary spaghetti western Django (Segio Corbucci) and written by the man responsible for Milano Calibre 9, (Fernando di Leo), Navajo Joe is a dark, violent and unforgettable cult western like you've never seen before. It features Burt Reynolds in only his second leading role. Fast paced, action packed and highly original, Navajo Joe is presented here from a new HD master for the very first time.

Watch Me When I Kill

Synopsis: Antonio Bido, the man who won understandable cult acclaim with his stylish stalker-thriller The Bloodstained Shadow (1978), helmed one of the defining giallo shockers in 1977's nightmarish Watch Me When I Kill. For fans of yellow-peril, golden age, Italian black-gloved killer mayhem, it does not get any better than this suspenseful murder-mystery which follows an animalistic, knife-happy maniac as he cuts and drowns his victims to prohibit a historic secret emerging. Exactly why the dead bodies are piling up confuses the authorities - but the reasoning behind this sudden slash 'em up activity proves both jarring and jaggedly horrible. And look out for an appearance from legendary Italian genre veteran Paolo Malco (The House by the Cemetery) and a sizzling soundtrack from art prog-rockers Trans-Europe Express. Starring Franco Citti, Fernando Cerulli, Giuseppe Addobbati, Gianfranco Bullo, Jill Pratt, and Corrado Pani. Cinematography by Mario Vulpiani (Marco Ferreri's La Grande Bouffe, Dillinger Is Dead).
