Just watched REQUIEM FOR METHUSELAH and was appalled at Kirk's behavior. He seemed more concerned in getting into Android Rayna's skirt then saving his crew who were dying of plague and urgently needed that Ritalin.

The Power of Kirk's Boner I guess.

Please share other cases and episodes where it seemed saving the Enterprise took second in Kirk getting his rocks off.

Even in REQUIEM, Spock seemed less concerned with finding a way to treat the bad Ritalin, so he sat downed and played a Waltz for Kirk and Android girl to dance to. Kirk was in her face immediately during that dance. You could smell the Testosterone through the TV screen that the Shat was oozing for the lady. I personally wanted James Daly to kick Kirk's "Keep your Boner in your pants", ass!

On a music note. Did anyone hear how similar the Kirk/Rayna Sad Love Theme sounded like one of Goldsmith's Themes from POLTERGEIST? Instrumentation is identical. I always hear it when I watch the episode.

Well I guess Rayna was all over Kirk's Pool Cue from the start as well...

SPOCK ERACE tickles the Ivories as Kirk tempers the raging Federation snake in his pants with the Sexbot...

Excuse me guys. But your people's skin is falling off up above on the Enterprise.

Yes, his crew is dying, and he's getting right on that. He's just going to shoot some pool and go dancing first.

But I still love this episode, because

- I like Rayna so much

- We get a scene with the three-foot Enterprise miniature

- The piano waltz is nice

- The score is tracked with tons of good music.

That was one scene I never really understood. Flint has that kind of power? Like Q? From a remote control? Of course I think they were looking for an opportunity to show off the model before the end.
Louise Sorel looks lovely in this, and I love the final scene: "Forget".

Kirk just knew how to multitask!

Kirk did what he did because he knew things would all work out, like always. It was a simpler time, the future.

No one is mentioning the most outrageous part of the episode - where Spock takes it upon himself to wipe Kirk's memory! Um, thanks, didn't want you to eff with my mind, old buddy! I NEED my pain!

Is there a running count of the female conquests of Captain James "Whip it out" Kirk in his 3 year TOS Mission? Based on the episodes that aired.

In fact, there are hardly any. He kisses a bunch of women, but there usually isn't time to do more. During the course of the series, he definitely sleeps with Drusilla, Deela, and Miramanee. He probably sleeps with Lenore Karidian, Edith Keeler, Odona, Elaan, and the fake Ruth in Shore Leave.

That makes a high of 7 or 8, depending on how you interpret some of those episodes and whether you count android replicas of old girlfriends. He does a little better than Spock and McCoy, but given the number of episodes in which he appears, Kirk's reputation always seems a bit exaggerated to me in that respect. He is far from some kind of interstellar James Bond.

I dont think you mentioned the women he bedded in his past who show up in: Dagger of the Mind, Court Martial, Deadly Years, Turnabout Intruder.

No one is mentioning the most outrageous part of the episode - where Spock takes it upon himself to wipe Kirk's memory! Um, thanks, didn't want you to eff with my mind, old buddy! I NEED my pain!

Aye laddie, but Kirk does say he wished he could forget her....and he's got plenty of pain left over, as Scotty will testify to:
I've seen the captain feverish, sick, drunk, delirious, terrified, overjoyed, boiling mad.

I guess Spock is just like his brother Sybok, 'cept he doesn't ask permission first....

So Kirk's "legacy" with the women is a bit of an over exaggeration? What a surprise!

Scotty had his share of boners for ladies on the Enterprise and various assorted gals on planets.

WOLF IN THE FOLD the Dancing Gal

THE LIGHTS OF ZETAR with Mira Romaine

WHO MOURNS FOR ADONAIS with Lt. Polamas, where he repeatedly got his ass leveled by Apollo.

You don't block Apollo's cock, laddy!

I know there's more. Scotty was a horny Red Shirt.

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere on this board in the past 18 years, but was the piece that Spock played on the piano composed for the episode? I've always thought that piece was absolutely beautiful.

Brahms paraphrase by Ivan Ditmars (a name I recognize from OTR). It's included in The Box.

Along with Kirk's uncharacteristic behavior is Spock accepting a drink and talking about experiencing the emotion Envy. Did a child-aged JJ Abrams think that his name was mentioned in the episode, and this is where his odd notions about the crew originated?

He didn't do any more than kiss Helen Noel from Dagger of the Mind. The flashback was a false suggestion Helen was testing with the Neural Neutralizer. I just didn't include the ex-girlfriends because they were asking about the events during the course of the episodes, but yes, those things certainly did happen!

Good point - I guess I was "projecting."
I think consensual fantasies should count. Of all the women not to have bedded....sigh.

What about all the symbolic penetrations? Doomsday Machine ("I'm gonna ram her down that thing's throat!") and Immunity Syndrome?

Gee thanks for that image! One I've never thought of in 45 years!

just caught one of Zooba's jokes. It's Ryetalyn, not Ritalin (the ADD drug).wink
So they only had four hours to get the drug to the Enterprise, and Kirk falls madly in love in that time? It's not like she cried ecstasy tears or displayed that extraterrestrial catnip to seduce him.

I just didn't include the ex-girlfriends because they were asking about the events during the course of the episodes, but yes, those things certainly did happen!

technically speaking, he might have had those affairs during his 5 year emissions.
