Was just thinking of some of the best scores that I've heard to supposed 'Movies within Movies' and thought that it might make for a fun topic. I'm not so much concerned with music that may have been licensed or tracked in, but, rather, music was specifically composed for such a thing, like Alexander Courage's score to "Space Movie" that played in EXPLORERS.
At the moment, I'm pressed to think of any others, but I know that there's got to be plenty more. Anyone else got any?
Who did the music for "Mant" the movie-in-a-movie in Joe Dante's 1993 MATINEE?
The music in the mock trailer for "MANT!" was chopped up and taken from these sources, as listed in the film's IMDB's soundtrack list. Presumably, it is the same music that Krakatoa pointed out that appears on the THEMES FROM CLASSIC SCIENCE FICTION AND HORROR FILMS album.
