mp3 only for now frown

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012BTLS62/

Note that the Vinyl version listed on the Amazon page is an unrelated 1973 album that merely has the same title, "The Prophet".

VERY brief interview with Salma Hayek about the music, where she mentions the score, saying that she connected with Yared, who is Lebanese, because she's part Lebanese.

I'm hoping that maybe we'll get a CD in some other market (UK, France, etc), or that Warner Music will release a CD in a few weeks, as has happened before (ARGO, CONTAGION).

Wow, where did that one come from?! You can always count on Yared to come up with beautiful music. Fingers crossed for a CD!

What a beautiful movie - really stunning. Had a chance to see a special screening of it in a THX/DCP theater last week. If you get a chance to see it, do so!

'Didn't even know this film was being made.

The book is just the best, a total world classic piece of genius. Looks like an all Lebanese thing, which might have pleased KG.

It'd better live up to the profundity of the book, that's all I'm saying.

Lossless version is available at Qobuz:

http://www.qobuz.com/fr-fr/album/the-prophet-music-from-the-motion-picture-various-artists/0093624927754#item

And you can stream the soundtrack on spotify:

But I do hope a CD is made available at some point...

This should be more discussed. A delightful score.

I'm a Yared completist, but I'm holding off buying the album because I don't want to waste money on mp3s only to have a CD come out soon. Dying to hear the score though.

I found a few cues on youtube. Here's one (see the side suggestion panel for links to others):

I broke down and purchased this on iTunes yesterday. I am not a digital fan but if I want something, I will relent.

I must say this entire score is lovely and ethereal. There are 3 songs on it but I am a Damien Rice fan so no big deal.
I would love to recommend it to anyone thinking of giving it a try. For $13.00, I did not receive a disc, booklet or jewel case but I purchased a lovely score. Go for it.

I guess I am a Yared incompletist. Well, I will enjoy my incomplete mp4 version that I wasted my money on and you can let me know when the complete cd version comes out, deal?

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I was only saying that I buy everything he releases. I wasn't talking about waiting for a "complete" release of the score. Anyway, I gave up on it ever being released on CD and bought the mp3 from Amazon. It's a beautiful score.

Okay, I apologize. I am such a grumpy old woman today.

I am listening to this as I write and the opening piece is taking my breath away. So beautiful!

I saw this last week and was impressed by the music (the first Yared score I've heard, I think).

No word of a cd yet, it seems.

For a non-completist, I figured this was a good Place to jump in the discussion about Yared. I just watched that documentary on him "Music by Gabriel Yared" and I have to say for the past two years I've been pulled in more and more by him.

Two things happened, I was in France with my cousin and he gave me the score to Camille Claudel (a masterpiece!) and I also bought the "In the Tracks of...Gabriel Yared" Dvd at a CD store in Paris (imagine they have stores there!).

He has an undeniably fascinating background. He's clearly got the piano chops and has done all sorts of interesting things. He seems like the ideal composer for film in many ways because what he writes could be literally anything. Betty Blue is not traditional or classical at all. Then Camille Claudel and The English Patient couldn't be more classical.

It did seem like Troy set him back some. The "Music By.." Dvd includes him discussing having a couple scores rejected. You see gaps in his filmography of a year or two. So I wondered what if there's any extra info about what he's been doing and whether my suspicions that some momentum was stolen from his career by the Troy fiasco adding to that the death of Minghella. He seems recently to have picked up activity though...
