About two years ago, a print of this previously-thought-lost RKO film was found in Italy, dubbed in French. There seems to have been no further news on this. Has anybody heard anything? I really wanted to know if the dubbed print contained Max Steiner's score for the original American release.

Can this be true? Wow ! Not only am I a soundtrack collector, but an old movie aficiando also. I wonder if Ray at Chelsea Rialto knows anything about this fantastic find. Ray, are you there ?

This is not the 1933 RKO RADIO long lost film. This is a remake in 1948 from England. For a while there I was very excited. The picture illustrated there is from 1933, but the film's cast says it is the 1948 English version. I guess the quest for the original still goes on. Too bad !

In trying to find information on this discovery I couldn't find any solid sources or articles, I only came across a few forums that mention it, and it seems to have been started here:

http://www.nitrateville.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16721

Is there another source out there for this discovery? Unless I just can't find the links, you'd think at least TCM would've featured an article (or even ongoing reporting) about it. This should be considered major news in classic film circles.

Meanwhile, because a year-and-a-half has gone by since this "announcement" I'm a bit skeptical of its reliability as it reminds me of something that happened a few years ago when somebody posted on a couple classic movie forums claiming to have found a complete print of Murnau's lost "Four Devils," which actually caused a stir before this person seemingly disappeared from online after Murnau scholars and film restorers entered the picture and started demanding concrete evidence.

Just to let you know, I just posted this topic on General Information at the TCM message board.
