Easy one for me... ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE (1969).

Still the best Bond score of them all and I'm a bit proud that I share my birth year with it's release.

Anyone else?

Oz

Ivanhoe - 1952 - fabulous score by Miklos Rozsa, one of my all time favourites.

1961 - I'd say West Side Story, but the score wasn't written for the film. So I'll go with El Cid.

But my favorite movie of that year is One, Two, Three, and my current avatar is my first record - Khachaturian's Sabre Dance - which was the basis of the score. So maybe I should go with that!

Make that two (for both 1969 and OHMSS)!

That thread is 5 years old. I don't what I was thinking nominating Cujo, Dead Zone easily trumps it!

It was none other than Hugo Friedhofer's "One Eyed Jacks", which was also the very first film score I ever heard (I saw the feature film two years later).

1942 was the year and the score was Miklos Rozsa's JUNGLE BOOK.

If you read the thread title, it only has to be by 1974 (although I don't think anyone has noticed that).

You can't think of a great score for the 40 years up to and including '74?

I'm voting for Vertigo, released two decades before I was born.

1986: Howard the Duck (John Barry)

...unless rejected scores count, then I'd give it Barry's "The Golden Child"

Plenty of other good to great scores that year too, but these Barry scores are two of his best from the decade.

1977 - Star Wars: obviously I did not know then that this movie and it's score would play a huge part in my life later on.

Clever way to get FSMers owing up to their real ages wink

I was born in the year of A View to a Kill - second best Bond score after OHMSS
