Madison Gate Records and Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the upcoming adventure horror comedy Goosebumps. The album features the film’s original music composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Edward Scissorhands). The soundtrack will be released digitally by Madison Gate Records and physically by Sony Classical.
Goosebumps is directed by Rob Letterman and stars Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Jillian Bell, Ryan Lee and Ken Marino. The movie is based on the book series of the same title and follows a teenager who moves to a small town and meets the beautiful girl next door whose mysterious dad is revealed to be Goosebumps author R. L. Stine. The movie will be released nationwide on October 16 by Sony Pictures.
Just like I said at Film Music Reporter, how much you wanna wager that Elfman was all over the temp track, then someone said, 'Can't we just get the real McCoy?'?
I was working at Sony in May when they recorded this score. They were on the stage from May 4th to 8th. I think the last day was only choir… I remember that they wrapped pretty early on the 8th, at the very least.
Samples are available on iTunes (the UK store at least). Sounds like classic, satisfying Elfman, lots of frantic strings, grandiose choir, Batman Returns style evil circus music and even some Theremin!
I thought the comments in here were exaggerating, but wow--it really does have that wonderful 80s/early 90s Elfman sound back, which I didn't think was possible at this point in his career. Samples sound very fun.
