It's an evocative score, full of the "Jones-isms" (orchestrational, tonal & chordal) that will later pop up in THE SENDER (director Roger Christian's follow up to this short), THE DARK CRYSTAL and a few moments in NATE AND HAYES. In fact, the opening scene of this short is VERY similar to the opening of THE SENDER, with a slow zoom out over a dreary expanse of countryside, in both instances scored very evocatively by Jones (the later with a larger orchestra and incredibly haunting melody). You can also hear traces of his (I think just-previous) horror score to THE APPOINTMENT in the neo-classical string writing, too. Good use of limited resources and a small ensemble here. Thanks for sharing. I've always wanted to see this film. Not crazy about the second half and the cheesy stop-printing technique, but the tonal and photographic qualities are extremely strong. Obviously Jones and DP Roger Pratt went on to have pretty fabulous careers hereafter. Christians made an excellent first feature in THE SENDER, also rife with Tarkovsky influences, but by the time he helmed BATTLEFIELD EARTH 20 years later, well... Thanks again!

Man, that is some great music. I love Jones' work from this period so much. Too bad there's no soundtrack release.

I must be the only one who found the film relentlessly boring and a waste of time, and the score nothing even worth mentioning.

Film was gorgeous but slow and uninvolving for me. Score was sublime. I can't get enough of Jones from this period. So thankful we at least got The Sender and Nate And Hayes from LLL. Those albums are both stellar and I salute them for rescuing them.
