July 5th Kritzerland does a heavily film music night ! Sunday 7PM
Music from PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE and BUGSY MALONE plus SECRET OF NIMH and many others. I have talked about how great these shows are many times. But the film music ones are rare and I am REALLY looking forward to this.
Forgive me for not posting a link but my computer is down and I am working on a phone. Maybe someone can help me post.
The venue is Sterling's upstairs at the Federal, North Hollywood.
Preston is coming and hope to see others there too.
Love Paul Williams, that little cranky, squid eatin' genius! Details, please? (Curious if the song he did for "Thunderbolt & Lightfoot" will be on the playlist)
The show is on Sunday, July 5th. Dinner at 5:30, show at 7:00. In addition to what Morricone has listed (NIMH, Bugsy and Phantom) we're also doing two John Williams composed songs, one Johnny Mandel and one Charles Fox. Lots of film stuff in this show Here's a link for tickets.

Just realized the Johnny Mandel must be " Close Enough for Love " from AGATHA starring Dustin Hoffman and Vanessa Redgrave. Love when Bruce digs up seldom performed songs for his shows.
Went to this show tonight with Morricone and his wife and our good friend, Marshall. Had a lovely time and it was great to get away from work and soundtracks and enjoy some tunes. MAN Paul can write some songs!
Morricone will most likely have a longer write-up.
Richard M. Sherman was there. Always a treat to see him and chat to him!
I remember when Goldsmith won his Oscar for THE OMEN, at the ceremony, Paul Williams was sitting close to him and congratulated him when he was exiting the aisle to collect his award. I believe Paul might have also won a statue that year for "Evergreen" Best Song from A STAR IS BORN.
Yes it was that year and Dang, Barbara Streisand and Paul Williams actually beat out AVE SATANI?

At an Elmer Bernstein screening Paul told of the heartfelt affection and gratitude he had for Jerry Goldsmith. It seems when Paul had bouts with alcohol and drug abuse he found himself in periods where no one would employ him. And at least twice with SECRET OF NIMH and THE SUM OF ALL FEARS he came to the rescue.

For the record, Paul Williams was clean and sober for about 12 years by the time he co-wrote the vocal tracks for "The Sum Of All Fears". (I don't think it was intentional, but to suggest that it was a rescue would be something of a disservice to Williams.)

His words not mine.
The second one may have been a straight "rescue" without the abuse problem. I shall try to tactfully ask the next time.

My point was that the 2nd instance ("The Sum Of All Fears") would not have been the "rescue" (he certainly needed no rescue by then)--while "The Secret Of Nimh" could be seen as such as that was when he was still 7 years away from recovery. Paul is known to have a very humble and self-deprecating nature so it's no surprise that he would have used that wording; if those actually were his words then quotation marks would have prevented any misinterpretation--otherwise it comes off as seeming like your words.
Anyway, no harm done. The man is amazing, regardless.
