Don't know how many of you use iTunes or updated. But holy moley does the update mess with preferences and the new interface continues to get worse and worse.

Ive been browsing the Mac forums and fixing what I could. Some things I can revert back other things I can't.

Thankfully I don't have the icloud turned on or have any of those other services. I read that's where the sh*t really hits the fan.

It seems to have broken one of the Audiobook views for me. Shows the authors, but no audiobooks for them.

Seems they tried to do too much in one upgrade. And of course not beta testing enough internally.

Edit: Here's a link for anyone who has problems or want to follow along with the issues others are having.

One of the changes that really rubbed my fur the wrong way was shuffling off all audiobooks to the iBooks app. I keep playlists of books—often a series by the same author—so that I can listen from one book to the next as I drive. iBooks does not have playlists (since audiobooks are not audio, or something), that pretty well blows the whole hands-free / distraction-free driving.

There is a workaround, and I had to restore the iPod to factory to get it to stick.

* Restore iPod.

* "Get Info" on each file (from within iTunes), go to the Options tab and set the file type to "Music" (from Audiobook). The checkboxes for "remember position" and "skip when shuffling" should automatically remain checked. It is possible to change multiple files at once—select, then Get Info.

* If the audiobooks do not show up in Music on the iDevice, you may also want to try changing the extension on the file itself. m4a is audio, m4b is audiobook, m4p is any "protected" or "purchased" file from the iTunes Store. Everything (at least on a Mac) changed to "m4a" without fanfare.

Now if only there were a workaround for the increasingly ugly and hard-to-read iOS inyerface. (Use small text, add useless icons, spread everything out. Good idea!)

Read "splintering" post and look at his graphic. Says everything I was going to say.

iTunes latest update. Apparently you can stream purchased iTunes content directly from iTunes on your desktop. Before hand you had to physically downloaded the file to your hard drive. This is probably a sign of Apple moving to streaming only like Amazon.

Bumping and old thread to ask about a new bug issue. I have the lastest version of iTunes on my Mac.
The last month or so a pop up box keeps appearing saying, "Your iCloud Music Library session has expired". Underneath that is the option to sign into my account. I always hit "cancel".

Anyone know why this keep popping up everyday? It never did this before. If I want to sign in, I'll sign in. But this pop up box appears everyday.

I got something similar several months ago when I accidentally opened our iCloud mail account to send a picture (I meant to use Hotmail). For three months afterward I got a popup on iTunes that said "Your iCloud session has expired', and then it just stopped.

A few days ago I made a purchase on iTunes and now I'm getting this: "Your iTunes Music Store session has expired."

I'd be very interested to know what's causing this, and if there's any way I can make it stop.

Yep, exact same thing. I never use iCloud, but I think a few months ago I was duped into signing into it to hear a score for "free". Ever since then it's been popping up when I start iTunes. (or when I reboot)

But I think I found the solution. First off, just for kicks and giggles I applied all new updates. (iTunes, Safari, Security, etc.) This required a reboot after security updates.

I have two iMacs and got different results-

On one iMac instead of the iCloud Session's sign in box reappearing I simply got the normal log into your Apple Store account sign in box. Which I did.

On my other computer the iCloud Sessions sign in box reappeared. I clicked on the "cancel" button. Then I manually went into the iTunes store and logged into my iTunes store account. After that I closed out of iTunes. I restarted iTunes and the iCloud Session's log in box didn't reappear.
