Well, I found out they still have a relationship with Universal. The only problem, and it's a big one, the studio and Varese Sarabande have no respect for the music produced at Universal from the 30's through the 60's.
I have to agree Cody.
Now you know why I've given up on Varese!
Some will point to the inclusion of the horror films. Well, there is a lot more to Universal Pictures in the 30's and 40's than horror films.
Had a feeling Varese would underwhelm us with something like this. Shame just as they were getting interesting again with a few Club DE's there back to their concert stuff. Yawn.

True Cody. But this 2 CD set has NO 30s and 40s horror music, just the recent horror scores.
From 1930 to 1970 is a grand total of 1 minute and 14 seconds!
Granted this is a concert from 2 years ago but as you mentioned it shows the lack of interest from Universal and Varese in Universal's Golden Age and early Silver Age film scores.
Anyone else having trouble logging into the site to order?
I can't get in and when I put in my e-mail with "forgot password" it says I'm not registered which I know is wrong because I subscribed to that LP to CD series.
Interesting trend though with Third Identity. Im seeing more and more limited edition cds with unlimited digital releases. Thinking seems to be people will pay for and want to grab CD at higher price. Not just Varese. Check out Old Boy limited edition from Milan and iTunes digital release.
For those of us who started with Varese in 1978 ..... they have really gone down the tubes!
I started really buying Varese in the 90s. I get what people are saying especially looking at my shelves.I think the reality is Varese will reissue and expand old scores they already own.My suspicion is as other labels joined the fray, their business on old scores shrunk.
I have to commend them on making sure anything they own even if not on CD anymore is digitally available. I think they're really trying. I commend them for jumping inot autographs, the club again(see lp cd club), being active on all the steaming services etc. Hopefully this will give them cash to do the old projects they want to do.
