...is awesome. There is SO much more music than spotify. This will be a great way to sample scores to purchase from now on. No more trying to find samples on youtube while I'm standing in the record store!

So much more than Spotify? In what areas? What did you find was missing in Spotify?

There's just more film scores available to listen to. For example, I was trying to compile a Horner playlist last week and couldn't find anything on spotlify. Apple has a huge Horner library. I'be only been playing with it for a few hours but I like it so far. The application is not as intuitive as spotify's though.

What is Apple Music. I assume something different than iTunes. Is it free or do you have to pay a membership?

Apple just released it today. It's the same concept as spotify with a monthly membership through itunes. 3 months free right now.

I tried opening Apple Music from iTunes and was promptly told that I need to upgrade to iTunes 12.2, something I am reluctant to do as I hate the new layout that Apple introduced from version 11 onwards. I hope that some albums exclusive to the US iTunes store will be available to stream internationally (yes, I'm talking about you, Jurassic Park 20th Anniversary edition). Its is very frustrating in the age of downloads that certain music is exclusive to US customers, whereas in the bad old days we could easily import any CD/vinyl that was unavailable locally. I find it especially odd that certain titles Varese owns in perpetuity are only available for download in the US (The Goonies, The Right Stuff, Ballad of Cable Hogue, The Black Cauldron re-recording, etc.)

If I am reading this right, anyone that likes to stream their Apple/Itunes content from the cloud won't be able to do it for free anymore.

What happens to my music if I decide not to subscribe after the three-month trial?

If you choose not to subscribe to Apple Music, you will lose all the premium features of the Music service. Any streaming content you added to your iTunes library will no longer be available, your access to Music Connect will be restricted and Apple Music radio stations will be skip-limited. You also no longer will be able to upload and stream your iTunes library via iCloud unless you purchase iTunes Match for $25 per year.

Hi,

Glad you like Apple Music but so far, here in the UK it's been frustrating and annoying and I really can't seem to get itunes to upload my non-itunes music into the cloud which I thought was one of the draws of this.

But also, I am finding music missing. e.g. in Spotify you can get some albums by Joe Harnell such as The Bionic Woman, The Incredible Hulk etc. I can't find those in Apple Music at all.

Also, I thought we'd have access to all the itunes catalogue, but for example I tried to listen to Jurassic World and it's not available on Apple Music, only in the itunes store for download. Is this the same as other countries or is the UK just blocking certain songs?

The IOS App is glitchy and sometimes when I pick an artist to explore, I just get a blank page.

One more thing...an indicative one...at the start when it asks you what genres you like I looked in vain to find a bubble for Soundtracks!

I'm hoping they clean it up and improve it for iOS 9. Been using it since yesterday and it has some bugs. The UI is also not the best, I don't like how my actual music library looks now (and can't believe they took away the horizontal way of browsing your collection just buy artwork!) But it's a good starting point.

That's iTunes Match, a separate service...

BTW the new iTunes shortcut icon is ugly and hard to see. Can't believe that was the best they could come up with.

Trust me I feel the same at about some UK music and Canadian artists. Nothing love better than American show using Canadian music only available in Canadian store.

Yeah, that's the other reason I don't usually like to subscribe to services like this. They focus most of their effort on the popular styles of music and people who like smaller genres are not finding the right stuff they want.

I might be showing my age, but I'm not crazy about a streaming service where you own nothing after you stop paying the monthly bill. It's a decent idea for movies, but music is something I like to own.

Completely agree and I'm 24. I used spotify to discover and try out new music and it comes in handy in some occasions to be able to browse any song and have various playlists in 2 seconds for reunions with friends, parties, etc.
But my music will still be my music. As you said if you want to go from Spotify to Apple music now (forget the trial period) you have to add your music again because you lost the one from the previous service.
