I was in London at the time, but when I got wind of that event at Royal Albert Hall (coinciding with a showing of Titanic with live orchestra, which Horner had been slated to conduct but couldn't because of a backache), all the tickets were already gone. For the concert, too, IIRC.
'The sound effects guys are all coming in there hoping to get Academy Awards.' I never thought of that as a bane to a composer's life, but it must be.
A bit sad to listen to though, given how recent it was, how lovely his speaking voice is, the friendly nature of the interview, and the talk of a future he wouldn't have (Mel Gibson's next film, etc).
Not quite as bad as a John Lennon audio interview tacked onto the end of his posthumous Milk & Honey CD. It was recorded just a couple of hours before he was shot, and he keeps banging on about his old age almost like he knew how difficult a listen it would be.
