I'd like to make a comprehensive list of the greatest cues that has Horner has ever written. Only the best of the best here! I know we won't agree on everything, but I'm sure it'll be an incredible collection of music by the end. So please post your top couple of cues. I'll start -

"For the Love of a Princess" - Braveheart
"The Ludlows" - Legends of the Fall
"Rose" - Titanic
"Rescue & Discovery of the Great Valley" - The Land Before Time
"Coming Home from the Sea" - The Perfect Storm

"Battle in the Mutara Nebula" - Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
"Escape from the Tavern" - Willow
"Flying" - The Man Without a Face
"The Ascension" - Cocoon
"The Search for Another" - Bicentennial Man

This thread is going to quickly devolve into a national nightmare, but here are mine:

Too Many Secrets from Sneakers

Doc's Memories from Field Of Dreams (easy to pick the final film cue, but this sequence in particular is just so perfectly scored, as is the introduction to Shoeless Joe)

Preparations For Battle from Glory (never ceases to give me goosebumps, the whole cue)

Early Victories from Searching For Bobby Fischer

Operation Reciprocity from Clear And Present Danger (the first half of the cue, at least)

The final cue from Legends Of The Fall (as Alfred is revealed to be the shooter, the family theme comes back like the warmest hug ever and you're left bawling on the couch)

All of The Man Without A Face

The Launch from Apollo 13 (come on...)

The section of Titanic's Hard To Starboard when they're trying in vain to steer the ship from the path of the iceberg is just such excellent scoring (blah blah Capricorn One is referenced here).

The two themes playing at once as Wallace's sword is thrown in the air at the end of Braveheart, but ESPECIALLY that the cymbal crash happens AFTER the sword sticks in the ground, on the cut to Robert The Bruce's crazy face. Phenomenal work.

The end choral section of Testament, during the home movie, even though Horner super adapted Britten here (something I didn't know until I think Jim Cleveland pointed it out a couple years ago)

So many great moments.

This is virtually impossible! He wrote so many classic and iconic cues. What a genius.

I was asked by a friend some months ago to do one cd of his classic tracks. Nightmare but what a good nightmare to have!

So my 80mins of essential Horner would be:
Flying Away and End Credits - An American Tail
Riding The Fire Mares - Krull
Genesis Countdown - STII
The Ascension -,Cocoon
The Ludlows - Legends of the Fall
Hard To Starboard - Titanic
Betrayal and Desolation - Braveheart
Stealing The Enterprise - STIII
All Systems Go / The Launch - Apollo 13
Become One of The People..... - Avatar
Reunion and End Title - Journey of Natty Gann
Rocketeer To The Rescue / End Title - The Rocketeer

Oh dear.....this may need to be a 2, 3, 4 disc set....or more!!

This is a tough question. I don't think I would mix his sci fi and fantasy music with say romance and dramas, there so different in style.

I'm just gonna make a "mega" mp3 disc compilation (of complete scores.) You can get almost five hours on one CD.

Think I'll brake my down into (1) Sci Fi/Fantasy (2) Romances and Drama (3) Animation
