My copies arrived last night, and I'm really enjoying them. A.I. sounds great, though I only got to track 7 on the first disc. Such a different experience compared to the OST. I've only sampled Bobby Fischer briefly, namely Josh and Vinnie, but it sounds great. Thanks LLLR.

Going through A.I. right now. Jeff skips through an important section of the plot, where David throws himself off the building in a suicide attempt, but is rescued by Joe before ultimately taking the copter down to his eventual resting spot of two thousand years. The notes on the music are apparently controversial as well, as to what theme goes to what, but his notes about when and where Williams utilizes the Blue Fairy theme are fascinating and exactly what I love about his liner notes. EDIT: Onto Bobby Fischer now. It's always tough to boil down a composer to just a handful of scores, but the notes indicate that Horner's heralded scores include Star Trek II, Cocoon, Aliens, Field Of Dreams, Glory, The Rocketeer, and...A Far Off Place?

Searching...This is the kind of Horner that my knees get weak from. LOVE this style from him. Listening now and LLL has again proven why they are one of the BEST in the business. My hats off to you!

Also, can I request an updated spreadsheet of what is what from the album, alleged Academy promo, and this release?

I'm just going to keep posting, apparently. Goofy that "Trip To Chicago," unused as it was, was not retained here despite it being on the album. A thrifty choice, not expanding this one to 2CDs.

You gotta visit JWFan more often. http://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25379&page=22entry1139462 I knew you had done one pre-release, I was wondering about one now that you've listened to the set to hear all the new bits. Looks like this is it.

Oomph... we gotta keep hold of the original release?! I mean, it is similar to the "Josh vs. Dad" stuff, but I dunno, weird that they had to cut corners to make it one disc, when blah blah blah Patriot Games blah blah blah. Great, great score, though.

It appears that in addition to "Trip To Chicago" not being included on the new album, the album version of "Early Victories" is not included either - only a Film Version is. Also it seems the album version of "Contempt" was an editing combining the Original with the Alternate, and now both of those full versions are presented, but not the album combination. Additionally, the "album version" of "The Castle" is 20 seconds longer now, somehow... And"Final Tournament" is 8 minutes long on the OST, but the total time of "Final Tournament" and "Final Victory" on the new set are only ~6:45.... so I guess the album version was an alternate version of that. The ** that the Film Version has must indicate a shorter version of a portion of the track was recorded. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uZMonnFBJ_YeHTHkL2v3pk1Wfc7-A0exXg-SHybrkCs/pubhtml

Confirmed that, in my opinion, the album version for "Early Victories" is better than the film version (the album version's opening is much smoother-sounding than the rather clunky film version). Seriously, what a great cue. Goosebumps.

Boo! Okay looks like I'll be holding onto both AI and Bobby Fischer. Doesn't help with space saving but does preserve the original experience/cues. Invest in some 2CD and 4CD cases! I used to do that all the time when CDRs became a thing.

There is no reason to hold onto the original release of AI - everything on the OST is heard on the new release. See my spreadsheet, or read Mike Matessino say so himself here: http://www.jwfan.com/?p=7726

Maybe he wants the shorter versions or Williams "and" combo cues the way they appeared on the album? If a complete Jurassic Park ever came out, it would feel super weird to not have the cues all jumbled up. Jurassic Park was such an important album for me, coming out when I was 15, that I've married myself to that album's arrangement in the way that many Star Wars fans did with the original album versions of the original trilogy. The Phantom Menace on the other hand.....
