The 1973 cult classic THE WICKER MAN had been remade in 2006 with Nicholas Cage. The 2011 film THE WICKER TREE was considered more of a "companion piece" than a sequel. In the film, Sir Lachlan Morrison is the laird of a small village. Robin Hardy had originally written the part of Sir Morrison for Christopher Lee. However, while filming THE RESIDENT, Lee injured his back after tripping over power cables on set and was unable to play the part. Although extremely disappointed, Hardy cast the actor who was originally playing Beame, Graham McTavish, in Lee's role, with actor Clive Russell taking over the part of Beame. Still wanting to include Lee, Hardy quickly wrote a cameo role for him. He appears as Sir Lachlan's mentor in a flashback. John Scott scored the film, with the music being issued by Silva Screen. THE WICKER TREE received a limited U.S. release by Anchor Bay Films in 2012.

Programme now in uk on bbc4 about the actors who have played Sherlock holmes. Christopher lee being interviewed, among others. Its called Timeshift - how to be Sherlock holmes. Yes, that one was shown first a while back. Somebody tells an anecdote re 'Private Life of Sherlock Holmes' involving a late night shoot where the crew disturbed a flock of bats. Wilder said to Lee, 'I suppose you're used to this kind of thing ...' which was his only joke on the whole shoot.

I can't find a piccie just now, but Fox News has tittified itself yet again. Their Twitter pages sported a pic of a news item with Megyn ('Christmas is white') Kelly reporting on Lee's death. A sombre photo bearing the legend 'Christopher Lee: 1922-2015' appears under a photo of .... Peter Cushing. I'm sure Pete and Chris are both having a giggle somewhere. "Hell, one goddam scary Englishman's the same as another."

I miss Sir Christopher lee dearly i have admired him since 1958, i just love all his films , his abilities are endless, love his singing when he sings opera in a foreign language, in 1972 when he went to Transylvania for his DVD documentry called in Search of Dracula i went on the same trial as he did but in 1974, the castle is amazing, its eerie at night when you here the wolves howling in the forests especially on a full moon night, i wasn't scared but my late young brother and my parents were. so far i have 50 of Christopher's and Peters Films on DV there is some i wish they put on DVD like his b/w film from 1955 called Cross-Roads, these 2 gentleman are the best macabre actors of english cinema, Boris Karloff was not to bad but Christopher and Peter do it so chillingly with panache and dignity. It took me 10= to get over Peter Cushing Death, i really still have not got over it i feel this will be the same for Christopher's.
