Nice, this is going to be very good, both the movie and the score.

Apparently huge production issues. The entire cast save one have been replaced.

Trailer

Love the combo of photorealistic backgrounds with cartoonish main characters.

Yup.
That is pretty enchanting.
I will be there for that one.

Not sure about the film (could be good), but I have high hopes for the score. Could very well be my favourite Pixar score to date (as I'm not too fond of the composers or scores in the studio's output so far).

I loved Inside Out but these character designs are getting worse and worse. It's not just Pixar either.

I think, like Jason said, they are going for a juxtaposition of naturalism in the environments versus simplified and smooth lines on the characters. If that is a good idea, well ----not sure yet. I liked the Disney Dinosaur from way back, they went for a naturalistic environment and pretty detailed naturalistic characters. It is visually marvelous and a fantastic JNH score too. A lot of people seem to hate that movie, I never understood why.

Anyway, I tend to give some stylistic leeway to animated movies, because part of the joy of that media is being able to do much more than live action. So if they push the envelope like this, I usually think it is not a bad thing. Now I am just guessing here, but I would think that the score would be even more important in a film like this, a cohesive thematic - stylistic glue if you will, to hold it all together.

I suppose it comes down to taste but everything today is bug eyed and the characters look like they were drawn by 8 year olds. (this started with the Simpsons) It's very disappointing seeing Pixar follow this trend instead of breaking out of it.

Today's audiences seem to hate appealing, or attractive designs. They find it uncool. Disney spent centuries developing his style so characters were appealing. I'm not against cartoony designs, I just wish they were nicer to look at.

Solium,

I have a great love for the classic stuff too.
The original Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, more recent, Beauty and the Beast.
I need to watch the classic Dumbo, I have not seen it in years.

I guess it is unhip- true. But when you watch that stuff you feel like you tasted art.

Just what we need another freaking dinosaur movie. One obsession I have never understood. Hopefully, Danna knows and understands how a dinosaur feels. Another colossal waste of money.

Hint: it's not about how dinosaurs feel, any more than Toy Story was about the emotional lives of action figures or Finding Nemo was about the psychology of fish.

There is hardly that many dino movies being produced especially when compared with something like the trend of modern comic book crap.

Thank you Genius. Toy Story was all about the relationships- the toys with each other and Tom Hanks with the kid. Are you saying relationships are devoid of emotion? I think I may have even seen a tear by some toy in that movie.

Are you being deliberately obtuse?
